The software engineer within Edison Works Emerging Technologies Team focuses on early-stage NTI pursuits and prototyping. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing Embedded Software, platforms and systems that control and runs on devices that need to be tailored to the needs of the hardware that it has to control. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Architects, designs and develops a small to large embedded application.

Some areas of expertise may include, but is not limited to, Edge computing devices, Sensing Algorithms (Radio Frequency (RF), Vision, etc.), Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) (Image recognition, pattern matching, optimized search/avoid), Cyber Security (Encryption devices, root-of-trust, information guard/assurance).

Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline in order to execute policy/strategy.

Develop an in-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.

Demonstrates understanding of how assigned work integrates with other teams and contributes to the established product roadmap.

Delivers assigned work to support project scope while meeting cost / schedule targets.

Interface effectively with all levels of the organization to provide progress updates.

Demonstration of understanding of low level hardware for development of boot loaders, drivers, etc.

Generate cost and time estimates for future bids and programs

Interfaces with internal and external customers.

Proposes novel solutions to satisfy technical challenges in support of internally and externally funded projects.

Utilize existing or newly developed hardware/software to demonstrate capability against customer expectations.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Computer Engineering or similar field from an accredited university or college.

Minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience in embedded system development.

Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

Knowledgeable of computing components (e.g. Processors, FPGAs, Storage).

Knowledgeable of system interfaces (e.g. Ethernet, Mil-Std-1553, Serial).

Knowledgeable of component interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, PCIe).

The ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
