The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Energy Procurement Specialist to join our team in Mesa, AZ; Dallas, TX; El Segundo, CA; Long Beach, CA; Berkeley, MO; Seattle, WA; Oklahoma City, OK or Washington DC, DC.
Position Responsibilities:
In coordination with site operations, Supplier Management, Legal, Corporate Treasury, Cost Accounting, and other stakeholders, execute the energy, renewables, and natural gas supply portfolio strategies for Boeing including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work with external suppliers, transmission operators, and utilities to procure reliable transportation, storage, remarketing, and delivery of energy supplies to Boeing manufacturing, business, and process operations.
  • Analyze utility and market factors to forecast energy unit rates and manage risk. Utilizes this data to develop budgets, provide options to reduce cost, and monitor cost performance.
  • Direct contract negotiations to enable Boeing\xe2\x80\x99s conservation and sustainability goals by procuring conventional and renewable energy and gas, financial and energy credits, certificates, and contracts.
  • Develop and monitor the performance of energy portfolios and budgets to provide options to reduce risk and cost.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret utility data and facility requirements to develop recommendations for short- and long-term procurement of energy, water, and waste disposal.
  • Assess impact on plant/site systems to improve energy system efficiency, reliability and reduced life costs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding energy and water technologies by reviewing technical specifications, beta testing and assessing compatibility with engineering standards.
  • Work with utilities, agencies and industrial entities that provide expertise and funding to evaluate and implement utility projects.
  • Develop and directs energy, water and solid waste conservation programs and coordinates program goals with users in order to achieve conservation goals and metrics.
  • Research, identify, and investigate existing and proposed laws, regulations and utility issues to determine their impact on costs and operations, including mitigating impact via recommended solutions and Company positions.
  • Gather data and prepare plans, documents, and reports pertaining to company utility usage by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data on utility consumption (e.g., electric, gas, water) and solid waste disposal in order to comply with federal, state, and local governmental regulations (e.g., local, state, Federal) and company initiatives.
  • Team with internal/external organizations to negotiate favorable outcomes, and identify and implement requirements mandated by changes in legislation, regulation and utility policy.
  • May be required to provide data and documentation for derivative compliance analysis.
  • Monitor utility provider systems and infrastructure to identify potential disruptions to operations and system component and configuration deficiencies and weaknesses.
  • In coordination with site energy leaders, support site budget inputs by evaluating site requirements, weather impacts, space utilization, and occupancy to forecast energy pricing, consumption, and supply.
  • Represent the company on utility trade associations (e.g., Alliance of Western Energy Consumers, California Manufacturers Technology Association, Industrial Customers of Northwest Utilities, Northwest Industrial Gas Users Association, Western Electricity Coordinating Council) and in professional associations (e.g., North American Energy Standards Board, Energy Engineers Association) to monitor and influence the development of industry reliability and commercial standards and tariffs and maintain currency on technology.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team\xe2\x80\x99s discretion and could potentially change in the future. The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a \xe2\x80\x9cUS Person\xe2\x80\x9d as defined by 22 C.F.R. \xc2\xa7 120.15 is required. \xe2\x80\x9cUS Person\xe2\x80\x9d includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor\'s degree
  • 3+ years of work experience with the Microsoft Excel application using: formulas, VLookups, pivot tables, charts, filters, and linking worksheets
  • Experience editing PowerPoint presentations as needed, as well as adding and presenting data.
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing and recommending action on supplier proposals.
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing market environments and communicating the potential implications.
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing energy related data to produce a strategic direction.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with site services (facilities) operations or conservation and utilities service.
  • Energy related certifications, such as Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, etc.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting government regulations/requirements on energy related matters
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years\' related work experience, 14 years\' related work experience, etc.). Summary pay range: $95,000 - $169,000
