The Sr Data Engineer works on a team supporting data and analytics efforts. The team acquires data from multiple and disparate sources, different formats, then builds and maintains the data pipelines to ingest and improve the quality of the data. It is also important to ensure that operational data is available to our reporting and analytics teams on a continuous basis. The team also provides internal reporting capability which supports all departments within the company and other stakeholders in making informed decisions. The role includes data architecture and design, defining the best practices and ensuring the team members are following up, development, quality, and DevSecOps functions. The Sr Data Engineer performs analysis, programs features, automates infrastructure, and participates in code reviews.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Python
  • Advanced SQL knowledge
  • Git version control experience
  • Familiarity and comfort with variety of team collaboration tools such as Slack, Google Docs, and Google Hangouts that also support remote work
  • JIRA, Asana, or some other ticketing system experience to organize work and manage workflows
  • Some system monitoring tool experience (e.g., Instana, New Relic, Datadog)
  • Data modeling frameworks and tools to do so
  • Data architecture and Master Data Management is preferred
  • Experience working independently and taking ownership of problems and system components
  • Demonstrated orientation towards customer success and happiness; balances speed with quality; knows how and when to trade-off technical debt, how to opportunistically refactor, and when to not permit unacceptable quality into production
  • Ability to work in diverse team environment and client interfacing skills
  • Experience with peer design and code reviews and orientation around sharing and being a team player
  • Automated testing skills
  • Analytical problem solving skills including good debugging and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information with a variety of stakeholders verbally, in writing, and in presentation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science or other related field
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with 1 or more \xe2\x80\x9cBig Data\xe2\x80\x9d tools/architectures like Hadoop, Spark, Redshift
  • Message queueing
  • Stream processing
  • Apache Airflow
  • Javascript
  • Kubernetes
Annual Salary: $130,000 - $150,000

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to concentrate and multi-task in a noisy/busy environment for long periods of time. Must be flexible to change. Must be able to work over 40 hours per week occasionally.

The position is eligible for remote employment, excluding the following locations: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming.
