Summary:

Wellvana Health is seeking a highly experienced data engineer to lead the design and implementation of our data infrastructure. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for collecting, processing, and storing data from various sources in a way that is easily accessible for data analysts and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in healthcare and a strong understanding of data management principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build our healthcare data infrastructure, including data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts
  • Lead the development of scalable and efficient data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Build and maintain custom APIs
  • Collect and process data from a variety of sources, including electronic health records, claims data, and patient-generated data
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of healthcare data
  • Develop and implement data quality control processes
  • Collaborate with data analysts and other stakeholders to ensure data is easily accessible and understandable
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare data standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes for efficiency and scalability
  • Troubleshoot data infrastructure issues and implement solutions
  • Participate in data governance and security initiatives
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers on best practices and technical skills
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • At least 8 years of experience as a data engineer, with specific experience in healthcare preferred
  • Strong SQL and database design skills
  • Experience with ETL tools, such as dbt, Apache Nifi or Talend
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards, such as HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA
  • Familiarity with modern data tooling (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, AWS, Stitch, Fivetran, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data governance and security principles
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
