Job Purpose

A Senior Analyst in the Finance Data & Reporting Organization will bring technical expertise, working with structured data to ensure its quality and accuracy. They will be collecting data from various sources, cleansing and preparing it, analyzing the data, and interpreting the results to identify trends and patterns.

They will collaborate with other members of the data quality team and wider project teams to create reports, dashboards, and other visualizations to provide insights to management and business leaders in support of data quality and decision-making efforts.

They will collaborate with a wide peer group, especially business analysts, data modelers and data stewards to ensure alignment of business rules, validation rules, data quality standards, critical data asset sub-polices and control.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identifies data sources to establish and maintain a data inventory. Support efforts to categorize data for security, confidentiality, and business criticality purposes.
  • Establishes and maintains a data management RACI covering the end-to-end data lifecycle and associated stakeholders (e.g. data owners and data stewards).
  • Identifies, assesses, and assist business owners to resolve data quality issues using data profiling and by creating validation rules for assessing the quality of data relative to business rules and previous trends
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of the department\'s data quality dashboard, including the analytics, and reporting.
  • Conducts root cause analysis, pattern analysis and other validation processes to detect errors and identify improvement opportunities
  • Research data lineage and help perform benchmark analysis to demonstrate the value of metadata. Recommends benchmarks, metrics for key data elements
  • Monitors data health issues via production of data quality metrics and assists the business with the implementation of action plans to address data health issues to ensure continuous improvement
  • Defines and maintains metrics to measure authorized data access. Establish the collection process of authorized user metrics and report on compliance via validation rules.
  • Establishes and maintains processes to report to the publishing owner any instances of inaccurate, incomplete, or invalid published data with the appropriate actions taken.
  • Resolves inquiries and issues across data domains, business units, and functions, soliciting advice and assistance from support functions (IS, Security, etc.), and escalating, as necessary
  • Assists in the creation and maintain of a Business Glossary and Data Dictionary
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or related area.
  • Demonstrable experience with data management practices including data profiling, data cleansing, data validation rules, data quality metrics and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of leading data governance practices, processes, and tools
  • Experience on several data management projects
  • Proficient in the use of SQL to read and report on data
  • Technically literate with an understanding of databases, systems, data models and schema design
  • Experience with the SAP ERP
  • Excellent analysis, problem solving and requirements definition skills and track record delivering results to business and technology stakeholders
  • Developing good relationships with users within the department and across the organization, interacting to resolve any data quality issues
  • Can influence and negotiate well and has a service mindset
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work
  • Must have excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills
  • Ideally has experience working in the energy, utility industry

Salary

$100k - $115k a year in Brooklyn, NY.

$94k - $107k a year in Waltham, MA.

Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
