In New York, we are a team of dynamic public relations professionals with a widespread of clients including Jaguar Land Rover North America, GE, Coca-Cola, Tiffany & Co. and The Economist.

We\'re looking for a Senior Account Manager or ambitious Account Manager to take on this media relations and client service role.

Working predominantly on consumer clients, the successful candidate will promote and communicate some of the world\xe2\x80\x99s most memorable moments for well-known brands to US and international media.

Accountabilities

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Develop and implement PR strategies and media plans for campaigns (with a particular focus on broadcast and online), while working closely with Account Director(s)/ Board Director(s)
  • Ensure production and creative teams are fully briefed on projects (eg timings, key messages, client and media requirements etc) and oversee the project from beginning to end
  • Establish and maintain a good day to day working relationship with clients \xe2\x80\x93 leading on campaigns and managing other team members
  • Lead the development of proposals for the extension of activities with current clients
  • Support all various global teams where relevant \xe2\x80\x93 achieving required objectives within agreed costs and timeframes, and ensuring correct standards for all work is met
  • Support all arms of the global team with media relations outreach where the US is a key market
  • Lead in the delivery of a high standard of media coverage \xe2\x80\x93 demonstrating strong media relations skills to sell in agreed storylines and spokespeople to US media channels and an established network of media contacts
  • Work to develop long-term strong rapport with key US media though regular meetings and check-ins to help grow the relationship
  • Ensure database of relevant media contacts is fully developed and maintained. Databases are to vary based on sector
  • Create specific media lists when needed for relevant campaigns. This can include creating lists to be shared with global team members to be used for campaigns not managed in the US office
  • Ensure all campaigns within portfolio are kept up to date on the DNA (our content distribution platform)
  • Manage the full scope of client budgets including: invoicing and overseeing of company accounts, finalising contracts with clients and working closely with The Economist legal team when needed
  • Be fully aware of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s terms of business and standard client contract and upholding it at all times
  • Possess a clear understanding of staff costing/staff cost to fee ratios etc
  • Mentor and develop junior staff within the team \xe2\x80\x93 in particular motivate and lead the activities of the team and provide constructive feedback on all areas of their work
  • Undertake staff appraisals (where applicable)
Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:
  • A strong background in PR from an agency background
  • Experience working within the PR industry with a particular focus on TV and Broadcast media
  • Excellent domestic and international broadcast and online media contacts
  • Highly competent media liaison skills and good media sell in experience
  • Familiarity with newsworthy video content distribution in a fast paced environment
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with strong written and verbal communication skill
To succeed in the role you will be able to demonstrate:
  • Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills
  • The ability to write appropriately for differing requirements: press releases, proposals, status reports, contact reports, etc
  • Computer literacy with a sound understanding of Microsoft Office, as well as online tools including DNA, Gorkana, Kantar, RAJAR, Year Ahead, Red Pages, Social Media Library, etc
  • The confidence to lead update meetings with clients
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team
