Under the direction of the Distribution Operations Manager, a 2nd shift Ethan Allen Security Guard protects company property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment by observing for signs of crime or disorder and reporting disturbances to supervisor and/or local police, fire or emergency authorities. Also responsible for keeping accurate records of all trailer/container traffic moving both in and out of the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Protecting company\xe2\x80\x99s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment by observing for signs of crime or disorder
• Observe, investigate and document disturbances
• Maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions by observing, detecting, deterring and reporting any signs of crime or disorder
• Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences and report in detail any suspicious incidents to supervisor
• Patrol randomly and regularly the building and perimeter
• Monitor and control access at vehicle gates and building entrances
• Log in and out all trucks, visitors and employees using assigned Standard Operating Procedures
• Answer facility phone as needed and forward to appropriate personnel
• On the off shift and weekends, make rounds to key stations on an hourly basis
• On the off shift and weekends, check boiler and dry kiln status during hourly rounds
• Assist the maintenance staff in securing an area during a maintenance emergency
• Follows all prescribed safety policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate and legible paperwork
• Must work overtime, as needed
• Detects faulty materials/process or safety issues and notifies Supervisor
• Follows prescribed safety policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Work relations: Internal: Facilities Engineer, Distribution Center Manager, Distribution Planner/Scheduler, Warehouse, Distribution Associates, HR Manager, Regional Operations Manager External: Local Police, Fire and EMS; Vendors and Contractors as assigned

Job Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the security field, preferred.
• Team player and able to work well with others.
• Good communication skills.
• Proven history of working well in stressful situations.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will usually work in a distribution plant environment or guard house. The noise level is occasionally high and there will be exposure to dust.
