High school diploma, at a minimum. Some college preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of successful secretarial experience preferred.

REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal PRIMARY FUNCTION: Serves as secretary to the Middle School Principal. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates the operation of the middle school office.
Answers the principal\xe2\x80\x99s telephone, answers the general office telephone in a timely manner, and provides assistance at the front counter.
Welcomes students, parents and general public to the building in a pleasing and courteous manner and provides assistance as needed.
Utilizes good communication skills with parents, staff and students as necessary.
Assists with receiving, sorting and dispersing mail, as needed.
Types and photocopies a variety of materials.
Maintains supplies and office machinery (copier, risograph, forms, etc.)
Provides secretarial assistance for teaching staff.
Assists with scheduling and preparation for parent teacher conferences.
Assists with maintaining accurate student and staff attendance records.
Maintains student registration forms, and student reference lists.
Processes all requirements involved for students enrolling or leaving school.
Maintains student files and processes their receipt and distribution.
Maintains and monitors student immunization records and all related correspondence and reports.
Maintains information and coordinates the full-time equivalent (FTE) count of students.
Prepares financial and other reports as directed by the building principal.
Maintains a proper filing system to provide appropriate information regarding all phases of responsibility involving the operation of the school.
Assists in distributing student medications and maintaining medication records in accordance with current District policies and procedures.
Assists in the care of ill or injured students and contacts parents as necessary.
Assists with the school lunch program as directed by the building principal, including processing free and reduced lunch applications in a timely manner.
Informs the building principal of any problems that may arise concerning the responsibilities of the school secretary.
Performs other related duties that may be assigned by the building principal.
OTHER INFORMATION: Candidate must pass all required state and federal criminal record background checks. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) months, 8 hours/day. Work days and work hours are established annually as needed. PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 45 Working Days EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated during the probationary period and annually in accordance with the policy of the board of education regarding support (non-certified) staff personnel.
