Nature of Work

THE POSITION:

Responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Executive Director (ED) of the WV Human Rights Commission. Attends meetings with and for the ED to take notes and offer input from the ED Office when necessary. Prepares reports, letters of correspondence, and responds to requests from HUD and EEOC for documentation. Plans travel for ED and HRC Commissioners (when necessary). Tracks meetings, events, and conferences for the ED\'s attendance. Oversees correspondence, attendance, and meetings for the HRC Commissioners .Supplies ED with specific detailed information for completion of reports, speeches, etc. Types a variety of documents often confidential in nature. Schedules and may attend job interviews and recommend candidates for employment. May monitor particular programs, draft reports on program status, assist in applications for grants or outside funds. Drafts correspondence for the ED and/or dept. heads concerning their program areas. May delegate work to other sections. Prepares/assists with information for press releases and interacts with the public on behalf or in lieu of the ED. Updates the HRC website, social media, outreach and education materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.

Experience: Five years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing clerical duties at the Office Assistant 3 level, encompassing a wide range of office practices, which must have in included typing, screening and routing telephone calls and correspondence, and composing routine correspondence.

Substitution: College hours or related business school or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for up to two years of the required experience.
