Job Description


Summary:

This position is responsible for Front of House Reservations and Ticketing functions; Customer Service and Sales of all admission, tours, and encounters; and visitor information capture from surveys. Caf\xc3\xa9 functions include taking and fulfilling orders in a timely, accurate and friendly manner as well as cleaning and stocking inventory.

Education/Training Requirements:

Minimum of two years experience in retail sales and/or in a cashier/cash-handling position preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and/or sales skills preferred. Must be at least 14 years of age, as required for permitting for the ticketing cashier position and at least 16 years of age for the caf\xc3\xa9 functions. Must be able to obtain a State of Alaska Food Handler s Card within 30 days of employment if working in the caf\xc3\xa9.

Primary Responsibilities: * Operates Point of Sales System, calculates ticket costs, receives payments, makes correct change, issues receipts, maintains records, organizes vouchers, and exercises full control and accountability for assigned cash drawer to include balancing of cash drawer after each shift.

  • For ticketing only: discusses and encourages customers to purchase additional tours and/or memberships in addition to general admission. Ensures these are made aware of to every customer.
  • For caf\xc3\xa9 only: takes food and beverage orders, prepares and serves food, cleans all food-related areas in accordance with State Health Department standards, and assists with caf\xc3\xa9 inventory process.
  • Inputs survey data as needed and directed to by the Guest Services Supervisor into the survey software program.
  • Creates and maintains the highest level of customer service and sales techniques as outlined in the Ticketing and/or Caf\xc3\xa9 Manual. Ensures both internal and external customers expectations are exceeded.
  • Follows all safety protocols and communicates the safety protocols to guests.
  • Maintains a clean, neat personal appearance following ticketing/caf\xc3\xa9 dress code and uniform guidelines. Conducts self in a professional manner and immediately notifies supervisor if others do not adhere to the Center s guidelines.
  • Assists in maintaining the professional appearance of the Reservations/Sales Counter, Lobby, and Caf\xc3\xa9 at all times.
  • Works shifts as scheduled. This position may be required to work overtime.
  • Fosters good relations with visitors, volunteers, community leaders, contractors, and fellow staff members by promoting positive attitudes, good will, cooperation, and providing high standards of service.
  • Complies with all Alaska SeaLife Center policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, and maintain friendly and courteous contact with the public under conditions which may be very stressful and busy at times.

These are seasonal, full-time and/or part-time positions; ASLC offers a competitive wage (DOE).
