The Academy\'s first school opened in Delano in 2009, serving students from across the Central Valley in grades 6-12. In 2016, we moved to our new, state-of-the-art college prep campus in Delano, and in the Fall of 2017, added an elementary school in Delano and opened a second charter school in Lost Hills. In Delano, we serve over 1,800 students in grades TK-12, while in Lost Hills, we serve almost 400 students in grades TK-10 and will grow to serve students through 12th grade over the next four years.

Our students have access to technology in all-grades, from hands-on-STEM learning for younger students in a fully equipped "maker\'s space" to school-provided laptops for older students. The Academy aims to provide every opportunity for our students that often is not found in public or charter schools, including the ability to graduate from high school with a free Associate Degree. Through a unique partnership with Bakersfield College, our students enroll in college classes starting in 9th grade and complete all their A-G requirements, in addition to their AS Degree requirements over the course of four years. In addition, all graduates are eligible to earn a four-year renewable college scholarship through the generous support of Lynda and Stewart Resnick.

In this role: School Nurse will administer school health services. To provide health and nursing services to students; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management service;

Here\'s what you\'ll do:

• Conduct and/or coordinate mandated screening; follow up with those who fail screening.
• Train, supervise and support assigned health services support staff.
• Provide appropriate and necessary training to appropriate school personnel
• Assume the collection and maintenance of all health-related data and ensure maintenance mandated logs as required by law and/or community partnership.
• In collaboration with muti-disciplinary team. Investigate and assess heath of students with chronic absences.
• Attend 504, SST, and IEP meeting as necessary to provide appropriate health related information to form support for students.
• Assist in monitoring compliance with HIPPA and confidentiality requirements.
• Supervise ad administer medication(s) to students according to District Board policy and administrative regulations.
• Interpret medical and nursing findings appropriate to the students\' individualized education programs and 504 plans and make recommendations to professional personnel directly involved.
• Develop and implement evidence-based health education curriculum and act as a participant in implementing a comprehensive health instruction curriculum for students
• Develop, coordinate, and teach health-related subjects under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
• Counsel and assist students and parents in health-related and school-adjustment services to ensure access and continuity of healthcare and wellness for students.
• Implement health actions determined by District, local, and state officials to control and manage communicable diseases, including immunization programs.
• Document student health information in District\'s electronic database systems and student cumulative folders, as required.
• Submit monthly, state, and annual reports as required by California Department of Health Services and the District.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• California Credential that authorizes to serve as a school burse
• California registered nurse license
• First and CPR Certificates
• Bachelor\'s degree or higher required
• Minimum three to five years\' experience as nurse.
• Implement consistently applicable laws, codes, policies, procedures, and District regulations governing work scope
• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, policies, procedures, and District regulations governing work scope
• Current medical terminology, equipment, and techniques
• Operation of specialized health assessment instruments
• Diagnostic methods for medical conditions and diseases
• Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to our organization\'s mission and educational philosophy
• Passion for working with traditionally underserved communities
• COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption

Pay Range: $85,000 - $95,000. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
