Charter Mechanical Contractors installs process piping, mechanical and plumbing systems for a wide variety of industrial, manufacturing, and commercial facilities. We are currently seeking a full-time, long-term Safety Manager to work with our team at a high-tech facility in Boise, Idaho. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and is expected to be a resource to the construction project team. This position requires dependability, the ability to self-start and independently support the project team with safety related tasks. A positive attitude, people skills and ability to communicate with varying levels of the company is critical to success.

The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

Communicating, coaching and motivating employees for safe performance. Significant field presence, auditing and assisting in pre-task planning, confined space permitting, hot work permitting, JHA's and other safety programs for project readiness. Manage project deliverables and support our craft people for injury and incident free projects. Performing safety audits and hazard assessments of projects. Identify, document, escalate or implement solutions for safety hazards or concerns. Recognition of hazardous situations and recommended corrective actions is essential. Conducting safety training to company and OSHA standards on a variety of subjects. Perform specialty training and proficiency tests on equipment such as aerial lifts and forklifts. Participating in incident investigations, identify corrective action and lessons learned communications. Facilitation of respiratory program, conducting training and performing annual fit testing. Assisting with protecting customers' facilities including impact prevention, impact mitigation and bulletproofing walks with supervisors. Assess ongoing risks and hazards associated with crew activities including risks associated with other surrounding contractors. Implement buddy program and conduct follow up evaluations. Perform initial and ongoing scaffold inspections. Will involve climbing and crawling and work at height. Inspecting fall protection and rigging equipment. Review and sign off process for de-install scope prior to work. Assisting safety coordinator with hiring and onboarding of newly hired employees. Auditing and assisting our subcontractors performing work on the project. Attend owner and general contractor field meetings. Participate in field walks and collaborative opportunities with other contractor safety professionals to promote an overall Injury and Incident Free Culture for the project. Review and prepare crew for confined space work including air monitoring and permitting process.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk large projects, climb stairs, scaffolds and ladders, and frequently lift industrial safety equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
Qualified candidates must have a safety degree or qualification such as Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential. Five or more years of related experience in a construction safety environment is required. It is preferred that candidates have OSHA 510 and OSHA 30 certifications.

Candidate must have ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, workforce and management alike, subcontractors and customers.
