Head Electrics, Audio, & Effects

Position Summary:

This Head Electrics, Audio & Effects has an expert understanding of low-voltage electricity and lighting, wiring and soldering, basic audio hardware including speakers and amplifiers, and basic pneumatic effects.

Essential Duties:

• Lead teams of electricians, audio technicians and effects technicians for the installation of hardware, running of cables, programming and basic electrical troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot electrical installation when unforeseen issues arise.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises work of others (overhire/onsite crews), including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Vocational or technical training \xe2\x80\x93 Field of Study: engineering, electronics, audio, electrician. The knowledge needed for this position are often not found in traditional college educations. Technical theatre education will be the closest thing, but so would any education in audio, lighting, electronics, design, 3D modeling software. It\xe2\x80\x99s a myriad of technical skills that makes this a helpful education.

EXPERIENCE:

5 to 7 years of experience in the technical entertainment field. At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license required. OSHA and similar construction safety certification(s) helpful.

\xc2\xb7Basic knowledge of a working theatrical space - hanging/focusing lighting instruments, audio, running cabling, cable management, basic knots, awareness of other aspects of production and their needs from your position and from the space, basic electrics, ability to interpret and create construction drawings, design drawings, light plots, ground plans, basic paperwork

\xc2\xb7Experience leading and managing a team

Work Environment: While on-site, frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or working in cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters. Because of the time constraints of most of the department\xe2\x80\x99s projects, the Head Electrics, Audio & Effects will often be on-site and need to work in hot/humid, cold/freezing, rain, and snow conditions to complete the job before the deadline.

Physical Effort: Strenuous \xe2\x80\x93 Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50-75 lbs.) and materials, or heavy hand tools.

Hazards:

Frequent existing or potential hazards. Moderate existing or potential hazards. In office, there is very little exposure to hazards. While on-site, there is regular exposure to: working at heights over 50 feet, working in and around heavy equipment, exposure to chemicals.

$300/day
