Job Summary:Provides front line supervision and is responsible for the overall education of the staff in the Pre-Surgical Department. Is responsible and accountable for assisting the director with coordinating and directing day to day activities in the department and for planning, coordinating, and directing educational activities in the department to assure safe, quality care in a cost-effective manner. He/She continually assesses staff needs and identifies areas for improvement. Assures development of a high-performance work team through coaching, mentoring, and daily briefings. Responsible for analysis of performance metrics to improve process performance. Maintains all levels of the department processes in conjunction with JCAHO standards, HIPPA regulations, and FMOLHS. Develops and maintains working relationships with physicians and office staff, as well as other customers within and outside the facility.

Education: * Bachelor\'s Degree and 3 years supervisory experience OR 4 years professional-level experience/6 years paraprofessional experience (in lieu of degree) and 3 years supervisory experience OR Master\'s Degree and 2 years supervisory experience.

Work Experience: * Graduate of an accredited nursing program

License & Cert: * Current Mississippi RN license required.

  • Ensures patients are screened in an efficient and effective manner, according to policies/procedures set forth by FMOLHS. Ensures processes are in place to minimize patient wait times. Performs random samples of team members work to ensure adherence to standards. Ensures that Account Notes are consistently used as a communication vehicle regarding account activity. Implement quality improvement initiatives geared at improving customer satisfaction and patient safety. Tracks errors, by team member, provides coaching to those who exceed the threshold, and works with HR regarding staff who cannot reach goals. Ensures productivity goals are met by staff. Monitors productivity daily, minimizing overtime.
Functional Demand : * Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 10-15 pounds with or without assistance. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
