Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at our M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital location in Burnsville, MN.

Fairview Ridges Hospital provides care for patients with many different acute and chronic diagnoses including, but not limited to, sepsis, renal disease, respiratory illnesses, overdoses, withdrawals, CVA\xe2\x80\x99s, acute myocardial infarction, pneumonia and more. Our complex patients may require ventilation, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the Day/Night shift rotation shift. This position will also work a rotation for every 3rd weekend.

Responsibilities

As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for:
  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;
  • Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;
  • Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;
  • Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;
  • Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;
  • Demonstrating the ability to advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;
  • Promoting a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and
  • Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
  • Certification in related specialty
  • A minimum of one-year current medical surgical RN experience in a hospital setting
  • One year adult critical care experience
  • Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty

The professional development program is designed to provide mastery of skills and concepts while preparing you for the next level in acuity. The Nursing Development Program was created to assist highly motivated nurses with limited experience to achieve proficiency at each step while paving the way to reach your ultimate goal of providing critical care in the highly acute setting of the ICU.

Begin at a level suited for your current experience. You will develop and refine your knowledge base and critical thinking skills over the course of 6-9 months while a position at the next level awaits you!

There are 2 different tracks available within the ICU Development Pipeline at Ridges, based on experience:
  • Begin on an Intermediate Care Unit (6-9 months) and transition to the ICU.
  • If you have previous Med Surg experience, it may be possible to transition to ICU in as little as 3-6 months based upon demonstrated profiency.
  • 0.75 FTE (60 Hours worked every two weeks)
  • Night shift position with 12 hour shifts and works every third weekend.
  • This position is benefit eligible.
