Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:



Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR



A bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR



A master's degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR



A doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties:

This RN Compliance Officer position is in our Investigations Division. This position is responsible for compliance and monitoring functions in accordance with laws and rules governing the practice of licensees under the jurisdiction of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (State regulatory board). The Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME), is a statewide regulatory board with the Department of Health and Hospitals, with the overall responsibility for licensing over 32,000 licensees within each of the categories and additional subcategories of health professionals licensed by and regulated under its jurisdiction. This position is responsible for highly confidential matters that would otherwise be exempt from public disclosure. The majority of duties and responsibilities are Compliance Administration, which include: overseeing compliance with the Board's rules and regulations in physician offices, clinics, and other health care facilities. Consults with Board attorneys to make sure the policies and procedures comply with the Board rules/regulations and state law. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved. Develops investigative plans and performs detailed investigations of complaints received on alleged violations of practice acts, rules/regulations, and consent orders. Conducts interviews and documents witness statements. Reviews medical records for health facilities, legal documents, personnel records, and other regulatory reports to obtain, compile, and analyze information necessary to determine violations. Gathers and organizes evidence for hearings. Interacts with other Healthcare Boards as needed. Recommends the disposition of complaints to the Director of Investigations. Prepares detailed reports and recommendations for the Director of Investigations and/or the Board's consideration. Prepares administrative documents and reports; participates in board hearings; and develops consent orders and other documents in cooperation Page 3 of 3 with the Director of Investigations and Board attorneys.
