KVC is seeking a Risk Manager. Under the direction of the Chief Counsel, and in collaboration with the KVC Health Systems Leadership, establishes an effective risk management program. Implements a risk management model that is both proactive to identify potential risk or safety issues which could affect patients, caregivers, stakeholders or the medical staff and reactive to actual events/near misses to ensure that causative factors are identified, and actions implemented to reduce or eliminate recurrence. Develops a risk management model to be utilized across all business units within KVC Health Systems and collaborates with the HR department to help develop guidance resources across the organization on the risk mitigation and safety model. Risk Management Program Oversight
  • Review of all actual/potential cases to identify risks and work with Legal and key internal stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies to prevent recurrence
  • Consult with trainers as necessary to improve understanding and facilitate corrective action trainings for effective use of evidence-based risk mitigation practices by staff
  • Ensure organizational compliance with Federal, State or Accrediting Body risk management and patient safety regulations and standards
  • Direct all investigations related to Sentinel Events, event reports with possible harm, or other situations where harm to a patient, caregiver, stakeholder, or medical staff occurred
  • Audit case records and monitor program operations to ensure compliance with regulations, contracts and evidence-based risk management model guidelines and provide support and direction as needed
  • Facilitate the development of written procedures and guidelines, as needed, to direct the provision of Risk Management Services effectively across all business units and corporate office
  • Collaborate with business unit Presidents to provide strategic oversight to meet compliance and quality standards
  • Represent KVC Health Systems on work groups and collaborative projects with KVC Health Systems business units and other community partners to advance Risk Management initiatives
  • Maintain communication with state, regional, and local licensing bodies (KDADS/KDHE/DCF) regarding availability and provision of risk management services in order to share program data and attend meetings as necessary to maintain a partnership
  • Represent KVC Health Systems in the Risk Manager capacity to state and federal licensing bodies, evidence-based practice purveyors, courts and other community partners and stakeholders
Continuing Education & Professional Development
  • Attend all trainings as necessary to complete job functions
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and other educational functions of the agency as identified by supervisor
  • Maintain professional licensing and certification as identified by the supervisor or agency director and state regulations
Record Keeping & Documentation
  • Maintain clear record keeping on risk management events and submit reports on a monthly basis in accordance with agency policy
  • Submit program information necessary to complete monthly investigations and monitor progress toward risk management program goals
  • Utilize professional language in all written communication and documentation
Special Projects
  • Assist with any special duties or responsibilities assigned by the Chief Counsel or any member of executive leadership team.
Professional Performance and Conduct
  • Meet expectations as defined in the Performance Evaluation and Competency Checklists
  • Dress professionally as outlined in the KVC Handy Book
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and agency information. All KVC employees are privy to confidential client information. Due to complex treatment needs of our clients, service providers have contacts that require written and verbal information exchange with different professionals and agencies. A strict code of behavior must be maintained to protect the special nature of divulged information
  • Follow risk management policies as outlined in agency manuals
  • Follow KVC emergency and safety procedures as outlined in agency manuals
  • Maintain professional behavior and attitude when interacting with management, colleagues, clients, and community partners in any setting
Follow the code of ethics of one\xe2\x80\x99s profession (e.g., Legal, Social Work, Psychology, Counselors, Marriage & Family Therapists) Education: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in healthcare/legal (or closely related human services field) Licensure/Certification: Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and auto insurance; Independent licensure/certification by professional or clinical board Experience: 3-5 years demonstrated professional experience providing evidence-based risk management services in children and families settings, and effective administrative oversight. Preferred Experience/Skills: Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in healthcare/legal or closely related human services field, Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM certification), Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email.
