Job Description

Pea River Electric Cooperative, a member owned electric and fiber utility cooperative, is in the process of filling a Right-of-Way Laborer Position. The Right-of-Way Laborer will perform all right-of-way clearing duties through vegetation management and tree trimming services in conformity with approved techniques and safety standards for new construction, maintenance of lines, and groundwork. This position will work under the general direction of the Right of Way Foreperson and will be a part of a crew focused on maintaining the right-of-way.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Must perform duties in compliance with all safety policies, regulations, and procedures with no shortcuts and have a safety-first mindset.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to travel for training purposes, meetings, or to aid other electric cooperatives, as required.

Must be able to perform duties required to maintain adequate right-of-way clearance for distribution and fiber lines to include cutting and clearing of brush and trees.

Must be able to effectively use and maintain right-of-way clearing tools and equipment, including but not limited to hand cutting tools, chainsaws, wood-chippers, bucket trucks, and various vegetation management equipment, as qualified and assigned.

Must have a Commercial driver's license (CDL).

Requires willingness and ability to work in a wide variety of environmental conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, ice, etc.

Requires willingness and ability to lift light and medium loads frequently and assist with heavy loads occasionally.

Must perform traffic control duties around work area as needed.

Must obtain certifications in CPR and First Aid.

Must have a good knowledge of Right-of-Way procedures. Right of Way experience and/or training is preferred.

Must be able to respond to emergency situations and customer concerns after-hours, as needed.

Must demonstrate excellent work quality, integrity, and diligence to ensure the safety and reliability of the distribution and fiber systems.

Must be willing to perform other work of this or any other classifications, requiring equal or lesser skills when assigned by supervisor.
