Job Description


The RFP Content Optimization Manager plays a critical role within RFP Strategy & Operations for Cigna\'s U.S. Commercial markets. This individual manages a team of content developers who are responsible for creating and owning RFP responses that directly impact the overall new business and retention sales process. Content developers are responsible for partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) that span across multiple products and capabilities to proactively develop new content and ensure existing content remains current and accurate.

The Content Manager ensures the development of winning RFP content. A successful candidate has the ability to help the team drive meaningful relationships with subject matter experts, proactively develop lean-in proposal responses, and manage timing and strategic needs of the RFP process.

The Content Manager serves as a leader within the RFP Strategy & Operations team by collaborating to drive change that will enhance the RFP process. This includes contributing to internal/external feedback loops to proactively get ahead of RFP trends, themes and emerging topics that will influence the development of lean-in proposal responses and future product development. Additionally, this role is responsible for partnering across the teams to support training, technology advancements and process improvements as an internal subject matter expert and leader for content development and optimization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Content Management:

  • Direct management responsibility for Content Development Team within RFP Strategy & Operations with direct supervisory responsibilities including staff development, performance assessment and management.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of various subject matter relationships throughout the organization to ensure strong partnership in support of our departments RFP strategies and objectives. Specific areas of focus may include: Network, Quality, Providers, Clinical Operations, Behavioral, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision.
  • Fosters team accountability for the success of our proposal content. Works closely with team and matrix partners to ensure new content is developed and existing content is refreshed and accurate to meet the needs of RFP\'s.
  • Manages case assignment across the team based on capacity and planning and ensures the team meets all standards for quality, strategy, and timing.
  • Drives content enhancements based on our capabilities as well as topic-based trends and market insights.
Technology Efficiencies:
  • Identify opportunities to improve the technology of the RFP library and partner with Content Optimization Sr. Manager and technology team to drive enhancements and efficiencies.
  • Embrace and support changes.
  • Lead content development best practices across the team that optimizes accuracy of search functionality and content structure within the RFP library.
  • Analyze content ownership and utilization within RFP Library and recommended appropriate actions based on reports (archive records as appropriate, quality review, utilization etc.)
Optimization Initiatives:
  • Support questions and recommended improvements from matrix partners regarding the technology, writing standards, formatting, etc.
  • Mentor and train new and existing team members in the strategies and objectives of RFP content optimization
  • Create, review, and update Job Aids and SOPs that support team processes.
  • Lead and support team with the execution of new products and services as they are ready to market (may include involvement in training, creation of new content and collaboration with business leads)
Collaborative team player:
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships across RFP Strategy & Operations teams, SMEs, and other business partners. Act as a resource and/or mentor to others.
  • Lead and/or proactively support projects initiated by the Content Optimization team or broader RFP Strategy & Operations teams.
  • Recommend and drive improvements and efficiencies where possible.
  • Lead other team initiatives and processes as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledgeable about Cigna\'s businesses, products, services, sales segments, processes, and tool
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for learning and understanding our solutions and key business drivers
  • Individual must be accustomed to working in a fast paced environment and be able to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate and influence those who contribute to the success of the process.
  • Strong writing skills, including ability to create proposal responses from scratch with minimal or no direction
  • Utilize strong critical thinking skills to navigate challenges and uncertainty independently

  • RFPIO Proposal Automation software experience a plus

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 89,300 - 148,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
