Summary of Responsibilities:



The Residential Program Manager (RPM) is responsible for the following for all Residential Treatment Program Supervisors (TPSs), the Residential Coordinator and the Residential Recreation and School Services Supervisor:

The RPM administers the following:
  • Ensures the department remains in good standing with residential polies and maintaining overall program compliance.
  • Works as part of an integrated care team including the Director of Residential Services.
  • Oversees all clinical programming that occurs in the milieu of the cottages including but is not limited to, the clinical support and skill development of clinical and cottage staff in collaboration with other designated program directors.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective utilization of agency resources as it pertains to Residential programming to include fiscal, personnel, physical plant and therapeutic environment.
  • Adherence to the training of standards and regulations as set forth by the agency, OCS Licensing, The Joint Commission and Medicaid.
  • Carries out all responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to AK Child & Family Policies, AK child & family Mission, Core Values and AK Child & Family Philosophy of care.
  • Coordinates with the training department to address training that is needed to facilitate clinical treatment within the milieu of the Cottages.
  • Monitors the implementation of the residential behavior management systems, ensuring that it is strengths based, trauma informed, culturally appropriate and individualized.
  • Assists in debriefing critical incidents within the residential program through a trauma informed lens and support interventions that can be used both preceding and after similar events arise.
  • All positions at AK Child & Family may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency imperatives.

Staff must complete this step before they can provide any care, treatment or other services for the facility and/or its patients. PAY:
  • DOE depending on education and experience
  • Bonus in the amount of 1.5% of annual salary after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period and another at the 1-year anniversary.
  • Annual raises are based on the annual budget and not guaranteed each year.





Supervision and Coordination of Services:

  • The RPM reports to the Director of Residential Services.
  • The RPM is the immediate supervisor of all Residential Treatment Program Supervisors (TPSs), The Residential Coordinator and the Residential Recreation and School Services Supervisor.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Residential and the Residential Clinical Therapists in coordinating program services within program parameters.
  • Collaborates and coordinates program services with all staff via supervisory and treatment unit meetings and established committees.
  • Actively participates in agency performance improvement activities.





Qualifications:



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Relates to and has experience working with children/adolescents in a psychiatric or residential setting and their families who have experienced significant trauma in their lives.
  • Possesses knowledge of the effects of trauma on the developing brain, psychiatric diagnosis and assessment, child/adolescent development, separation and loss, physical/sexual abuse is essential.
  • Demonstrates good knowledge and understanding of trauma inform care, psycho-social assessment.
  • Produces timely and quality treatment plans.
  • Skillfully advocates in those cases where the children/adolescent\xe2\x80\x99s individual needs should supersede status quo programming.
  • Is able to work as part of an integrated care team with a focus on quality therapeutic programming and knowledge of how to guide employees towards established milieu goals and objectives.
  • Has excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills; creativity/flexibility on delivery of services; adaptability to changing circumstances and an unwavering commitment to excellent student care.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and/or special needs population.
  • Possesses a valid Alaska driver\xe2\x80\x99s license or is able to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
  • Is able to travel between campuses and within the community.
Education and experience:
  • A master\'s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work from an accredited school is preferred.
  • In lieu of a clinical master\'s degree an individual must hold a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and demonstrate a commitment to increase clinical knowledge of best practices through completing 40 hours of continuing education yearly through conferences, webinars, books, etc.
  • A minimum of five years\' experience working in a residential setting.
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in the field of mental health, preferably in child/adolescent mental health.
  • Understands and can speak to trauma informed care and best practices and the ability to improve systems and create positive change.





Physical Demands:

  • The RPM must be able to drive and transport students in AK Child & Family vehicles.
  • Be able to efficiently access AK Child & Family and community buildings for meetings and agency activities in order to perform all job responsibilities.
  • Must legibly produce reports using a computer regarding students and residential unit events .
  • Be able to use a copy and fax machine.
  • Must be able to meet with DJJ, OCS, insurance and other mental health personnel related to students and their families as well as for networking and professional growth in person and via telephone.
  • Must attend and participate in residential meetings on any AK Child & Family campus.
