Description

As a Wind River Job Corps team member, you will be responsible for teaching independent living skills to our potential graduates to ensure they experience positive group living in a clean and safe homelike environment. API\'s Residential Advisors help our young people understand the benefits of diversity and inclusion while enhancing their social and emotional learning. You will have the honor to support and assist students to achieve their maximum potential.

Position Summary :

Reports to the Senior Residential Advisor. Responsible for providing proper supervision and guidance to students to in maintaining a positive, safe, clean and secure dormitory environment to support and assist students achieve their maximum potential in the program in compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) and management directives.

Essential Functions :

  • Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in a dormitory living situation and to accomplish their education and training goals and objectives.
  • Supervise students and control group living conditions, evaluate situations and conditions within the dormitories and make decisions or recommendations.
  • Monitor dormitory areas to ensure safety and proper student behavior in the dormitories; recommend facility or equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Direct activities as designated including dorm government and peer courts.
  • Patrol and monitor dormitories and center as required to ensure safety and proper behavior of students; and resolve potential or occurring problems/situations.
  • Assist with on- and off-center recreational activities for students as needed.
  • Transport students to and from recreational functions, airport or bus stations, and other locations as required.
  • Enter required attendance information into CIS and ensure all pass information is correct.
  • Direct students or assist in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.
  • Recommend or requisition supplies to provide needs for dorm living and safety of students.
  • Conduct group sessions in accordance with the schedule; participate in and conduct career preparation, career development and career transition activities as assigned.
  • Complete evaluations for all assigned students and participate in Career Management Team (CMT) panels as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a living and learning environment.
  • Provide proactive conflict resolution and refer students for counseling or other activities as necessary.
  • Document shift activities and events in required format; document CIS case notes as required.
  • Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal and study habits and coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues.
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and other center customers.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities; develop and conduct enrichment programs as needed or assigned.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy and Center Behavior Management System.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, consistently monitoring student behavior and conduct, and mentoring students where necessary.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required staff training.
  • Coordinate with other staff and departments regarding issues related to the provision of student services and to interdepartmental and center programs, activities, and events.
  • Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to live, learn and work.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Requirements :

High school diploma or equivalent and one year experience working with youth. Post-secondary education credits/degree preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record.
