Job Description


The Department of Psychiatry Huntingtons Disease Clinic is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to be involved in data collection, entry, and management functions in all clinical research.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct participant visits in conjunction with other study investigators and research staff.
  • Obtain and record subject data, including detailed health history and data, vital signs, EKGs, symptom rating scales, cognitive assessments, and side effect evaluations.
  • Processing of required lab specimens, labeling of tubes, and accurately completing requisitions for storage/and or shipment per the study protocol and packaging and shipping regulations.
  • Participate in the enhancement of biorepository procedures as they pertain to sample stability, improving informatics, workflow, and sample security and privacy.
  • Design and maintain databases, internal tracking sheets, and other organizational tools to conduct current and future studies accurately and in compliance with good research practice.
  • Maintain participant follow-up tracking database; maintain records of study participant status by using an enrollment log (if available REDCap platform will be the system to collect research data, check data quality, and track participants visits).
  • Track and assess quality and completeness of data entry and abstraction; immediately raise potential concerns with the project manager/study PI.
  • Perform data entry, management, and calculations using computerized database, word processing, and spreadsheet software, and review data input for accuracy and completeness.
  • Respond to program needs based on awareness of routine and repeated job functions.
  • Provide updates to supervising clinical coordinators, collaborators, administrators, clinicians, and/or program leaders on data collection.
  • Organize and maintain a filing system for electronic and paper-based patient records.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Attend weekly and monthly group meetings.
  • Conduct literature search and organize data for program-related reports and papers.
  • Comply with written and unwritten program practices, procedures, and protocols.
  • Prepare and maintain program materials.
  • Prepare weekly reports of work hours and activities for review by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate and serve as a role model for a positive work environment.
  • Know the informal policies, procedures, and practices necessary to conduct the normal function of a specific section, unit, or work area. Is aware of the role of the position and its potential impact on the working unit.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision but asks for clarification when needed regarding data quality and integrity issues.

  • Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Database and spreadsheet knowledge RedCap preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Highly attentive to detail and deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
