These full-time, permanent Research Investigator 2 positions report to the Assessment & Evaluation Unit Supervisor within the Office of Nutrition Services..

As a Research Investigator 2 you will perform statistical analysis, program evaluation, and research related to the administration of the Women, Infant and Children Nutrition (WIC) program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program \xe2\x80\x93 Education (SNAP-ED), and Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). These programs create opportunities for people with limited resources to make healthy nutrition choices, thus supporting the Department of Health mission to protect and improve the health of all people in Washington State. The results of these analyses are used to guide evidence-based decision making by office management.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
:
  • Analyzing and interpreting outcomes, interviews, and observational data related to the statewide delivery of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program \xe2\x80\x93 Education (SNAP-Ed).
  • Creating and maintaining data visualization dashboards and maps using data related to the Women, Infant and Children Nutrition (WIC) program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program \xe2\x80\x93 Education (SNAP-Ed), Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), and Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program.
  • Providing technical assistance to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program \xe2\x80\x93 Education (SNAP-Ed) partners relating to SNAP-Ed evaluation requests, including local and regional evaluation design, evaluation implementation, data analysis, data visualization, data interpretation, and data reporting.
  • Designing and conducting advanced health related research studies that support the work of the office including the Women, Infant and Children Nutrition (WIC) program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program \xe2\x80\x93 Education (SNAP-Ed), Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program, among other activities.



The duty station for these positions are Tumwater, WA. Telework (mobile-work) is currently expected. When approved to return, the incumbent is expected to report to the duty station for work activities. An alternative work schedule may be considered upon request and supervisor approval. Telework - once returned to the duty station for work activities, may be considered upon request with supervisory approval. It is anticipated that the incumbent would be expected to report to the Tumwater duty station for work activities approximately one day per month. This would need to be a conversation between the hiring supervisor and the incumbent.

Required Qualifications
Note: Experience defined below may have been gained through lived, volunteer, professional, or a combination of experiences. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.


  • Option 1
    : Six (6) or more years of demonstrated experience in experimental or analytical research in a public agency, public or private research corporation, nonprofit research corporation, or university research center.



  • Option 2: A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in one of the physical, biological, social, behavioral, or health-related sciences; AND three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience in experimental or analytical research in a public agency, public or private research corporation, nonprofit research corporation, or university research center.



  • Option 3
    : A master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in one of the behavioral, biological, educational, health-related, physical, or social sciences; AND one (1) or more years of experience in experimental or analytical research in a public agency, public or private research corporation, nonprofit research corporation, or university research center.



AND
,
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in statistical analysis, research design, and data visualization using software such as SAS, R, Tableau, or Atlas.Ti.


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with WIC and/or SNAP-Ed data.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with evaluation plan development and data analysis in behavioral, education, marketing, public health, or social research.
