Job Qualifications:

Lab Research Tech 2 - Orthopedic Surgery

Basic Purpose: Under direction from a Principal Investigator or Research Assistant, to participate in basic or applied research at an entry level and to follow existing protocols or clinical methods. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values, and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Representative Levels of Participation:

Sample Preparation: Performs routine procedures in the laboratory according to established protocols including obtaining radiographs of study specimens and preparing specimen tissues for histologic evaluation.

Implant Repository: Obtain from the Department of Pathology, accurately identifies, processes for storage, and records prosthetic devices recovered from patients.

Implant Wear Analysis: Assist in wear analysis of retrieved total joint implants.

Postmortem Retrieval: Assist in postmortem recovery of implants and collection of distant organ tissue samples from patients who had hosted joint replacement prostheses.

Surgical Assistant and Necropsy: Assist in experimental surgery and necropsy. Maintains current inventories of experimental and control materials.

Representative Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Biology. Basic knowledge of histologic procedures and database management.
