Job Description


The Division of Environmental Health in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at USC is seeking a Research Coordinator I for the Environmental Justice Research Lab to manage and coordinate community-based research studies on industrial toxics, water quality and health impacts. This is an opportunity to work on scientific studies conducted in collaboration with environmental justice organizations in Southern California.

Responsibilities include: (1) Working with faculty on recruiting participants, organizing community events and sharing study results; (2) Contacting potential participants and enrolling them in community-based environmental health study; (3) Collecting samples and survey data from participants in a community setting; (4) Communicating with community-based organizations; (5) Providing project support to the research study and faculty. Excellent communication skills are required, as is the ability to work in diverse community-based settings. This is a fixed-term one year position. A Bachelor\'s degree in public health or environmental sciences is a plus as well as understanding of air pollution. GIS skills are desirable. Spanish speaking is also preferred, but not required.

Hourly Range:

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.98 - $29.98. Minimum Education: Bachelor\'s degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Field of Expertise: Administrative or research experience. Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Demonstrated effective communication and writing skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
