Job Summary:



The IRP Research Administrator will function under the general supervision of the IRP Research Administration Manager. A successful candidate will demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and accuracy. Candidates should be effective communicators, have a service-oriented approach, be skilled at building interpersonal relationships with constructive interactions, have strong multi-tasking abilities, and work independently using initiative and good judgment while remaining compliant with sponsor terms and campus policies.

The position involves working closely with principal investigators and research staff to prepare, route, and submit funding proposals to sponsors; for example, application and budget development, award setup, implementation of subawards, award modifications, and maintenance of biosketches and other support documents. A small component involves overseeing a small portfolio of sponsored projects on the post-award side, including award management (reconciliations, projections, financial reporting) and award closeout.


Responsibilities:


Works directly with principal investigator(s) and/or research program director(s) to carry out research administrative functions related sponsored grants, agreements, or award management (proposal preparation through closeout).
  • 15% Serves as a liaison and expert resource for researchers regarding the interpretation of policy and procedure related to overall sponsored project management
  • 40% Works collaboratively with researchers to prepare non-technical materials for proposals, drafting contracts or agreements for review, and/or advising award setup
  • 15% Leads researchers in the preparation and/or maintenance documentation, financial management, and/or reporting requirements related to sponsored grants, contracts, or agreements
  • 5% May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators
  • 10% Maintains and monitors grants and contract budgets
  • 15% Assures compliance with grant, contract or agreement requirements and determine whether objectives are being met

Qualifications:



Required:
Effective oral and written communication skills, independent problem solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and organization, and a service-oriented approach.
Ability to be flexible in work assignments and work effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, university administrators, and funding agency representatives is critical.

Preferred:
Experience with research administration (pre and/or post-award) in an academic setting.
Experience with sponsored projects and corresponding UW policies and systems.
Experience interpreting and analyzing financial data.


Work Type:



Full or Part Time: 75% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:



Minimum $54,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 for experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
