Overview:
The Registration Specialist is responsible for the registration of patients, including patients for clinic, visiting, surgery, and massage appointments. In addition to this, the employee will cover the Walk-in Clinic, during this time the employee would be responsible for scheduling and registering all walk-in appointments. The Registration Specialist will be responsible for updating information in the hospital/clinic computer, obtaining consent, and information accuracy. Will handle routine patient inquiries and will work closely with all MHP departments and provider offices. This position is Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, and will have the opportunity to help with weekend coverage. Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
Registration functions vary by location and/or department. Functions may include the following:
\xef\x82\xb7 Interviews patients in person or by phone to obtain all required information for hospital/clinic records and billing systems.
\xef\x82\xb7 Registers or pre-registers all scheduled patients for inpatient admissions, outpatient services, and clinic visits according to department policies and procedures.
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintains all admission accuracy system errors and warnings by the end of the shift. This also includes running all insurance eligibility on all appropriate admissions.
\xef\x82\xb7 Scans documents into general scanning software.
\xef\x82\xb7 Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
\xef\x82\xb7 Checks all outpatient orders for accuracy and gives to OP Orders Coordinator before checking inpatient. Also makes a copy of the order for the OP Order Coordinator if the provider is not in the EMR system.
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintains accuracy in the completion of admissions and completes admission corrections in a timely manner.
\xef\x82\xb7 Collects patient\xe2\x80\x99s demographics and necessary signatures.
\xef\x82\xb7 Issues required information to patient and/or responsible party per MHP policies.
\xef\x82\xb7 Verifies insurance coverage and ensures that the appropriate persons are notified if pre-certification is not completed.
\xef\x82\xb7 Determines upfront payment or co-payment based on information provided by insurance coverage or the Financial Counselor.
\xef\x82\xb7 Requests payment from patient and/or family member following the scripting for collections.
\xef\x82\xb7 Logs payment, produces receipts and prepares recap sheets.
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintains accurate petty cash balances daily.
\xef\x82\xb7 Performs clerical functions as needed, including answering phones, taking messages, filing, faxing, scanning, etc.
\xef\x82\xb7 Assists patients with questions regarding hospital/clinic bills including taking payments at any registration location.
\xef\x82\xb7 Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications:
Requriements:
\xef\x82\xb7 High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
\xef\x82\xb7 Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or within 6 months of start date.
\xef\x82\xb7 PC proficiency, experience with IP and OP hospital insurance claims filing, and reimbursement principles desired.
\xef\x82\xb7 Must be able to use and operate office equipment.
