Medical Surgical, Post Surgical Unit

Admission/Discharge Nurse

Monday-Friday 1030a-7p; no weekends and no holidays

*In this role, the nurse would complete the discharges and admissions and would be a resource to the staff during any down time; no patient assignment.

All Medical Surgical Units at Piedmont Rockdale share the following;

• Bedside shift report during nurse and pct handoff 6:45a/p
• Hourly, purposeful rounding using A.I.D.E.T
• Compliance with our quality initiatives
• Multidisciplinary rounding and care coordination rounding
• Nurse patient ratios of 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Charge nurse with limited patient load to facilitate daily operations
• No call requirements
• Self - scheduling through Smart Square
• Medical Surgical 3 (MS3): 31 beds

Patient population consist of post-surgical and procedural patients as well as general medical patients. Nurse competency includes BLS and standard medical surgical nursing care.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursing program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
BLS certification required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
Bachelors degree preferred
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
