Picture yourself working with the most world renowned Interventional Radiologists or Neuro Radiologists in the country, who are using the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic tools to help make life-changing decisions on behalf of patient care.The Vascular and Neuro Interventional radiologists of the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MIR) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital pioneered, and are responsible for, many radiologic milestones. These two distinct radiological clinical service lines are organized as follows: Interventional Radiology, includes a team of close- knit clinical specialists (Medical Doctors, Registered Nurses, and Radiologic Technologists) who perform highly specialized Vascular and Interventional procedures, including most types of angiographic studies, nonvascular interventions, intra-vascular thrombolysis and central venous catheter placements. Neuroradiology, comprises highly trained Radiologists, Radiologic Technologists and Registered Nurses who work as a team to perform complex procedures such as cerebral angiography, myelography, stent placements and aneurysm coilings and embolizations. The Radiology Department at the Washington University Medical Center is regarded as one of the top five in the United States. It performs over 453,000 diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures annually.
Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

In the Interventional/Neuro-Interventional suite, the RN provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care to critical patients who require a high level of clinical expertise. These RN?s demonstrate competency and maintains ongoing education as required by regulatory agencies in support of disease specific certifications or time critical diagnosis response expectations including the American College of Surgeons (ACOS), the Joint Commission (TJC) and the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) for Level 1 Trauma Certification as well as Comprehensive Stroke Certification (CSC). Additionally, must demonstrate competency in providing autonomous, one on one monitoring and support while administering sedation as directed by the credentialed provider during procedures. Assumes care of and maintains standard of care for critical care (ICU) patients while in the procedure setting.

Responsibilities * Provides care to acutely and critically ill patients in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. These patients are facing life-threatening problems with varying needs, which require extensive medication protocols and therapies. Educates patients and their families on disease process, management of illness/injury/treatment, support resources, infection prevention techniques, and essential daily tasks to prepare for next transition of care.
  • Demonstrates competency in evaluating intensive care patients, administering care, recognizing complications and coordinating with other members of the critical care team. Strives for excellence in patient care; keeps patients safe from adverse events. Seeks learning and teaching opportunities in an effort to further develop and perfect skills and improve overall quality of care. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and revises individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
  • Strives for excellence in patient care; keeps patients safe from adverse events. Seeks learning and teaching opportunities in an effort to further develop and perfect skills and improve overall quality of care. Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development and life long learning.
  • Evaluates patient\'s response to complex critical treatment modalities and modifies plan of care accordingly throughout the patient\'s stay. Demonstrates expertise and critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate patients/family\'s physical, psychosocial and emotional needs Demonstrates ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships in the procedural environment.
Minimum Requirements

Education * Nursing Diploma/Associate\'s

Experience * 2-5 years
