The Records Specialist assigned to the Open Records Unit is responsible for adhering to the Texas Public Information Act; protecting the integrity of records assembled and maintained by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, while remaining committed to public trust and transparency. This position requires motivated, critical thinkers who hold confidentiality in high regard. Employees assigned to this unit must be knowledgeable of, understand, interpret, and properly apply the laws mandated by legislature, while adhering to written policies. The ideal candidate s resourceful, flexible, and possesses strong situational judgment to solve complex problems even with incomplete information.
The pay listed is subject to increase after probationary period and time-in-service according to a County-wide step plan.
Qualifications
Applicants with working knowledge of Spillman preferred
Applicants must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office products
Applicants must possess strong attention to detail
Applicants must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
Applicants must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Applicants must be willing to learn policy, procedures, and statute requirements applicable to open records, subpoenas, non-disclosures and expunctions
Applicants must be able to multitask and handle several priorities while ensuring compliance with strict deadlines
Applicants must be willing to be on call, work adjusted shifts, and work overtime during times of high volume
Applicants must be able to lift boxes up to 35lbs
