Flexible Location: **Successful candidate will have to report to either a Fresno, Oakland, or Sacramento office twice a month. They will ultimately get to choose their home office from the three listed.

****Client laptop and cellphone (iPhone) will be provided.
*Federal Mileage re-imbursement (following GSA rates) is allowed outside of the typical commute if meetings warrant an overnight stay these lodging and meals will be approved on a case by case basis.

  • Pre-approved $35/month Internet reimbursements may be submitted as expense.
*EQUIMENT REQUIRED: any other items other than the 2 mentioned above must be provided by the worker/supplier. It is recommended they have a workstation with two monitors for the position. They will have the option to request daily in office work stations via client\'s space finder.

Department Overview
The Customer Energy Solutions (CES) organization provides integrated energy solutions that help business and residential customers save energy and money.

The Client Energy Efficiency (EE) team focuses on inspiring and empowering our customers to eliminate unnecessary energy use, reduce their carbon footprint, and save money. As one of the nation\'s largest energy efficiency portfolios, EE is helping to transform markets, set building codes and appliance standards, and be the marker by which all other utilities are measured.

Within the EE team, the Custom Project Quality Control (CPQC) team ensures EE program data quality, maintains regulator relationships, and supports communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Position Summary:
Location will be determined by hiring leader and successful candidate. Hybrid work environment with home office in either Fresno, Oakland, or Sacramento. 2 in office days each month in office.

[GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:] You will be responsible for program policy and technical review of EE projects that span various customer segments (Agriculture/Food Processing, Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and High Tech/Real Estate). Additionally, you will develop and support data quality protocols and validation processes for EE energy savings and incentive programs.

[SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES, AS AN EXAMPLE:] Tasks will include: completing program policy and technical reviews of EE projects which will not be limited to reviewing baseline, eligibility, influence, operations, proposed equipment and operation, calculations, etc. Other activities include analysis of large data sets for validation gaps and errors, analyze market data for trends, and implement process improvements to enhance EE data accuracy.

[CAPABILITIES/SKILLS:] The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical, quantitative, analytical, and project management skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate accountability and a dedication to collaborative problem solving.

[SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:] Responsibilities:
  • Review of technical calculations, customer baselines, proposed equipment, existing and proposed operations
  • Build relationships with internal customers (policy, programs, etc.) to perform accurate and efficient reviews of EE projects
  • Provide technical and policy trainings to external Third Party Programs who will e submitting projects to client
  • Use excel and Power BI, or other analysis tools to analyze and build customized reports
o Develop analytic tools that assess EE program data accuracy
o Analyze EE technology market data for cost effectiveness and viability
o Predict business outcomes selecting from various complex variables
o Analyze customer usage data for eligibility in meter-based programs
  • Develop internal strategy, analysis, and governance EE data quality improvement efforts
o Troubleshoot data quality issues, determine root causes for recurring problems, develop data validation logic, and implement process improvements
o Develop metrics that inform business strategy and operations. Clearly articulate recommendations and findings in communications to leaders.
o Develop reference materials on data management best practices
  • Support implementation of CPUC legislative direction, including data requests and compliance filings
  • Manage small to mid-size data quality improvement projects.
Minimum:
  • 2 years of related work experience, in one or more of the following:
o Engineering and/or technical analysis
o Analyzing customer and energy usage data to assess energy or bill-related program impacts
o Analyzing/maintaining data quality for large, complex data sets
o Developing business strategy based on data analytics
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Either - Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or LEED AP
Desired:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • LEED AP
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
  • Utility industry experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • General knowledge of end use technology (lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, motors, pumps, compressors and commercial, industrial and agricultural processes)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams or similar software
  • Experience and proficiency in project management: manage multiple priorities and projects to completion such as energy efficiency projects
  • Experience with Measurement and Verification techniques
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM platform
  • Strong focus on safety
  • Broad knowledge of different analytical methods, approaches and tactics
  • Familiarity with energy codes such as CA Title 20, CA Title 24, ASHRAE 90.1, or IECC
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to deliver findings on technical subjects to various levels of management
  • Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Stata, SAS, MATLAB, advanced Excel, or another language/software package used to manipulate large data sets for analysis
  • DOE Qualified Specialists (ie: AIRMaster+, FSAT, PHAST, PSAT, or SSAT Qualified Specialists)
  • AEE Certification (ie: BEP, BESA, CBCF, CBCP, CDSM, CEA, CEM, CEP, CGD, CiEP, CLEP, CMVP, CPQ, CRM, CSDP, CWEP, DGCP, EBCP, EEP, GBE, PCF, REA, or REP)
