Position Overview
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for ensuring that all materials and supplies are sourced, ordered, and managed in alignment with company standards and project requirements. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with the warehouse manager and vendors to maintain efficient procurement operations and support overall company performance.
Key Responsibilities
Order Review & Purchasing
Review job requirements prior to purchasing; verify the presence of proper purchase orders, budgets, and/or contracts.
Place material orders accurately and promptly based on project needs.
Review order confirmations for accuracy, including pricing, quantities, and product details.
Returns, Claims & Vendor Management
File claims and facilitate returns in coordination with the Warehouse Manager.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight terms, and credit limits with vendors to support cost efficiency and operational reliability.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers while holding them accountable to company standards.
Inventory & Supplier Research
Collaborate closely with the Warehouse Manager to determine which items should be routinely stocked.
Consistently research suppliers and product options to ensure best pricing, quality, and availability for stock materials.
Evaluate supplier performance and recommend improvements or alternatives when necessary.
Procurement Strategy & Continuous Improvement
Develop and implement procurement strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and support operational excellence.
Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, optimize purchasing decisions, and improve forecasting.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with vendors, internal teams, and warehouse staff.
Solid problem-solving ability to address order discrepancies, supplier issues, and partnership challenges.
Data analytics capability to interpret purchasing data, track trends, and support strategic decision-making.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience in purchasing, procurement, or material coordination (construction or trade industry preferred).
Familiarity with inventory systems, bidding processes, and supplier negotiations.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
