King County Department of Information Technology is seeking a Purchasing Agent and Inventory Manager to join our team. This position will assist the purchasing agents in processing hardware and software requests, obtaining budget approval from the appropriate Department/Division, and creating all necessary purchase documents related to the purchase of IT hardware and software; locate source of supply, place orders with appropriate vendors, and track those orders through to receipt. This position will also assist the Purchasing agents in managing inventory and orders for all in-stock items. Issues chargebacks for all purchases \xe2\x80\x93 both in-stock and purchased items. Coordinate with other teams within the Customer Support Services group to deploy in-stock and purchased items to the customers.

Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed primarily in the office complemented with telecommuting as able. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.

Duration
This position is estimated for a duration of 3 years.

Work Schedule
The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is eligible for overtime pay.

Job Duties
Assist the Purchasing agents in the following tasks:

  • Assist in managing in-stock inventory by performing weekly counts of inventory, alerting the team manager to low stock conditions, reviewing current usage patterns, and recommending reorder quantities
  • Gather requirements and configuration information for hardware and software orders. Ensure configuration review (when needed) by the team\xe2\x80\x99s technical staff and/or the Provisioning supervisor
  • Obtain quotes for hardware and software, communicate costs with customer and obtain budget approval
  • Complete all necessary forms to order and track hardware and software purchases through to receipt
  • Maintain in-stock hardware and software inventory, filling customer orders, tracking in-stock inventory, and reordering stock items
  • Issue chargebacks to internal customers for purchased and in-stock hardware and software
  • Maintain and track licensing information for software purchases
  • Coordinate with other teams in IT\xe2\x80\x99s Customer Support Services to deploy the purchased or in-stock hardware and software
  • Field customer queries on all IT hardware and software purchasing (cost of in-stock items, order status, purchase processes, etc

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • 3 years of general office experience (purchasing experience preferred) with a record of growth and increased responsibility
  • Strongly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel and Word in particular.) Experience in the use of Office 365 and SharePoint helpful, though not required.
  • Self-Motivated and able to work well both independently and in teams
  • Driven to meet customer needs quickly and efficiently
  • Familiarity with technology terms helpful, though not required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be highly motivated, flexible, and service-oriented.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
