Position Overview:

Reporting to the Pulp and Power Superintendents the Pulp Mill Foreman for the Arkansas Kraft Division will have operating responsibility for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and management of the pulp mill and powerhouse crews. Responsibilities:

• Provide strong leadership by leading the initiative of safe work practices by championing new ideas, learning from events, communicating with the team and development of an empowered, highly motivated operational crew.
• Communicating and reinforcing the mill\xe2\x80\x99s running objectives, sustaining the highest operational quality and productivity levels
• Work closely with the area production Superintendents to execute objectives consistent with the Arkansas Kraft Division\xe2\x80\x99s vision and strategy.
• Lead and develop operational crews in activities around quality and operational improvements; by enhancing operational knowledge, and coordinating with maintenance support to improve substandard facilities, and maintain a reliable and sustainable operation.
• Manage on-shift operations and lead a crew of union employees in the Woodyard, Pulp Mill, & Utilities Departments.

• Woodyard processes include chip screening/treatment and bark processing.
• Pulp Mill processes include batch digesting, hot stock screening and refining, brown stock washing, recausticizing, lime recovery, and by-products (turpentine and tall oil) production.
• Utilities processes include black liquor evaporation and concentration, recovery boiler, bark boiler, gas boilers, water plant, and boiler water preparation.
• Manage on-shift electrical and mechanical maintenance.

Qualifications:

Qualifications of the Candidate:

• A relevant technical degree; additional experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
• Experience managing operations either in the paper industry, petrochemical/heavy industry, or power generation/utility sector.
• 3-5 years of progressively more accountable operations supervisory experience.
• Experience leading with in a union environment is preferred.
• Must display willingness and ability to promote within the organization.
• While expertise in all aspects of the operation of the \xe2\x80\x9cback end\xe2\x80\x99 of a paper mill is ideal, it is equally important that the successful candidate have a proven record of developing and implementing training within operational crews.
• Have a keen business acumen, combined with strong fiscal awareness and understanding \xe2\x80\x93as it relates to cost control/reduction, particularly in response to immediate and critical operational decisions.
• In addition to a full complement of leadership skills it is also important for the Pulp Mill Shift Supervisor to bring knowledge of personnel development and maintenance coordination. Incorporating continuous improvement processes and best practices will be keys to the success of the Pulp Mill Shift Supervisor.

• Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels.

The Arkansas Kraft Division is a fully integrated pulp and containerboard mill utilizing a sustainable combination of virgin fiber and recycled fiber to produce high quality kraft linerboard and corrugating medium.
