Position: Program Assistant
Program: Stepping Stones/Safe Haven
Supervisor: Program Director
Basic Work Hours/Days: Primary Hours 7am-3pm or 3pm \xe2\x80\x93 11pm, Friday - Sunday and Holidays (16-25 hours/week); occasional weeknight 11pm-7am if desired JOB SUMMARY The primary responsibility of this position is overseeing the evening activities at Pathways\' shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. The position will assist to provide care for residential clients and ensure their safety at all times during the shift. Assist clients with daily tasks and maintain physical aspect of the shelter. This position requires communication with the program Social Worker, other staff members, and clients. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Client Services
\xef\x82\xb7 Conduct face-to-face check-ins with guests and provide any needed follow up as requested by the program Social Worker
\xef\x82\xb7 Serve meals to guests during dinner
\xef\x82\xb7 Assign and monitor completion of daily chores with shelter program guests
\xef\x82\xb7 Document notable client interactions with staff, volunteers and other clients
\xef\x82\xb7 Report pertinent client and program concerns to the program Social Worker
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients
\xef\x82\xb7 Reinforce agency/program guidelines and expectations with clients
\xef\x82\xb7 Receive incoming medications, count for accuracy and place in proper client bin
\xef\x82\xb7 Monitor prescription and over the counter medication ingestion to ensure medication compliance
\xef\x82\xb7 Follow medication check-out procedure when guest exit the shelter program
\xef\x82\xb7 Distribute personal care items to guests
\xef\x82\xb7 Conduct weekly room checks and report issues or concerns to program Social Worker
\xef\x82\xb7 Provide crisis intervention and safety planning to clients
\xef\x82\xb7 Keep communication log book updated with materials/information Building Management \xef\x82\xb7 Ensure the safety and security of the building; including completion of walk-throughs.
\xef\x82\xb7 Document and respond to critical incidents according to policy
\xef\x82\xb7 Clean and organize house manager\xe2\x80\x99s office work space. Job Requirements
\xef\x82\xb7 Maintain program and client confidentiality
\xef\x82\xb7 Review communication log book at the beginning of each shift
\xef\x82\xb7 Check staff email account during each shift
\xef\x82\xb7 Communicate with other staff during shift exchange
\xef\x82\xb7 Attend and participate in program and staff meetings and/or trainings
\xef\x82\xb7 Prepare written and verbal reports as required
\xef\x82\xb7 Stay abreast of and follow all agency and program policies and procedures
\xef\x82\xb7 Monitor front desk, answer phones, distribute resident\xe2\x80\x99s mail once sorted by Admin
\xef\x82\xb7 Work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers
\xef\x82\xb7 Record hours worked accurately by clocking in and out for each shift
Perform other duties as assigned by program Social Worker and/or Executive Director QUALIFICATIONS \xef\x82\xb7 Must have a high school diploma/GED
\xef\x82\xb7 A minimum of one year experience in a social service organization, preferably working in a residential setting with women and children who have been abused and/or homeless
\xef\x82\xb7 Must possess an acceptance and respect for cultural diversity, sexual orientations, gender identities, and religious backgrounds
\xef\x82\xb7 Must have a valid Alabama driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and insurable under agency\xe2\x80\x99s auto policy
\xef\x82\xb7 Must be a team player and willing to assist other staff and guests
\xef\x82\xb7 Have the ability to multi-task, possess good time management and organizational skills
\xef\x82\xb7 Must have good listening skills and show empathy towards others
\xef\x82\xb7 Must have strong oral and written communication skills
\xef\x82\xb7 Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
