Description

This position is located out of our Kerns Building in NE Portland. The schedule for this position is variable, with no overnights.

Job Overview

The Program Supervisor I works as the direct supervisor of the Peer Support and Peer Wellness Specialists to implement and monitor peer delivered services within Project Respond Crisis Services. The Program Supervisor provides general and specific direction to team members. This position involves leadership to implement program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based and client centered approach to assisting individuals being served by Project Respond. The Program Supervisor assures that peer wellness services are provided in cooperation with the larger crisis team members and as directed by the Program Manager.

  • Openly identify as an individual who has lived experience of receiving mental health services and be willing and able to openly discuss your experiences with both clients and coworkers as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the daily operations of the program, including integration of best practices and evaluation of program services.
  • Provide regular supervision, training and guidance to PWS/PSS staff through Project Respond programs to ensure that program goals and objectives are met.
  • Establish workflows and processes for Peer Wellness Specialists and assess the progress of Peer Wellness Specialists while managing performance goals
  • Support integration of Peer Wellness Specialists into larger Crisis Team
  • Provide training and guidance to other non-PWS Project Respond staff on the role of PWS
  • Provide crisis response in coordination with clinical staff to individuals in the community experiencing a behavioral health crisis
  • Reflect positive peer values that include non-hierarchy and mutuality.
  • Act as a positive role model for individuals being served, demonstrating a recovery and healthful lifestyle orientation.
  • Represent the Peer Wellness Program at community, state, and/or national functions as related to the work of the Peer Wellness Program.
  • Provide information and facilitate linkage to mental health treatment and other social services.
  • Operate in a sometimes ambiguous and frequently changing work environment.
  • Respect client rights and responsibilities and demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements.
  • Document and maintain electronic health record (EHR) and ancillary records in a manner that assures compliance with all agency policies, program procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for safety of consumers, staff and property
  • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings.
  • Provide backup response to PWS staff as needed.
  • Assist staff members in working through challenging situations with participants.
  • Consult with and coordinate treatment decisions with the Program Manager, Program Director, Program Medical Director, other Supervisors, and Counselors.
  • Conduct performance reviews for staff members or provide the Program Manager with information necessary to assess performance.
  • Assure that staff members maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation associated with clients\xe2\x80\x99 progress and other activities, as required.
  • Provide some after hours, on call support on rotating basis.
  • Participate in regular Peer Wellness Specialist clinical supervision.
  • Comply with and implement the regulations, policies, and procedures which pertain to peer-delivered service goals and rules.
  • Act as an advocate for individuals being served when appropriate, both within the organization and also with other entities.
  • Assist in program development activities.
  • Complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis. Attend seminars, training and other educational opportunities in order to develop professional skills and abilities.
  • Prepare various reports for the Program Manager or other stakeholders as required/requested.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement methods, systems, procedures and treatment strategies to reduce costs and to enhance the level of service provided
  • Monitor expenditures and use of agency/program resources, making suggestions and putting plans into action to enhance efficiencies.
Supervisory Oversight
  • Determine staffing requirements, recruit, hire, and train staff in a manner that encourages and maintains diversity and cultural responsiveness.
  • Establish work plans and priorities for staff members, assess the progress of staff members.
  • Provide consistent supervision and support for direct reports.
  • Promote and complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Establish and manage budgets for assigned programs and monitor monthly expenses.
Strategic Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership throughout Cascadia and contribute to strategic initiatives.
  • Provide customer service leadership; establish a service-first and customer-centric culture across technical staff.
  • Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity.
  • Create, model and maintain a work culture that supports and values inclusion, equity and diversity.
  • Attend and participate in all meetings as assigned, including but not limited to staff and team meetings, and consultations with staff.
  • Manage a budget; effectively manage resources, capacity, and costs to optimize spending and maximize the return on investment.
  • Help create vision and key strategic goals as related to technology across the organization and its core competencies to develop a long-term vision of technology hardware and software solutions, as well as planning and implementation of technology roadmaps and policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: A High school diploma, GED or equivalent required for this position. A completed Peer Support Training approved by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). Must complete a Peer Wellness Training approved by the OHA within two years of the date of employment.

Experience:

Position requires experience as a former or current user of mental health services. Must self-disclose as a current or former user of behavioral health services and must have personal experience with recovery.

Peer Delivered Services Supervisors shall be certified Peer Support Specialists (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialists (PWS) with at least one year of prior experience employed as a PSS or PWS in behavioral health services.
A Traditional Healthcare Worker (THW) certification is required in addition to the certification in order to keep current and in compliance with the OARs.

Preferred:

Experience providing peer support services in the realm of substance use and addiction.
Experience working with diverse populations/ communities.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and the components of maintaining a Trauma Informed Care environment

\xc2\xb7 Understanding of principles of Illness Management and Recovery, and the skills to provide strengths-based services

\xc2\xb7 Operate Computer hardware and software at a level to effectively perform the job functions

Other:

Possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, three-year driving history; clean driving record, ability to pass Driver Motor Vehicle (DMV) check and complete the Cascadia online Defensive Driving course.
