The SPLC is seeking a Project Manager committed to advancing racial equity in Mississippi!

Consistent with its mission, vision and strategic impact goals, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is instituting a service delivery model in each of the five states it operates focused on and informed by local concerns, context, strategy, solutions, and collaboration. The \'State Offices\' will add capacity to the Center and its efforts to collaboratively address issues unique and proximate to each state and to drive long-term, transformational/structural change. Through its state office model SPLC will elevate state and local needs, and more effectively and collaboratively employ its organization-wide capabilities and expertise in the states that it operates. Each state office will be led by a State Director who will guide their respective state-based strategy in collaboration with other Center leaders and will provide administrative leadership for the office locations. Who You Are Experienced. Demonstrated experience working in social justice, community organizing, project management including building project plans and executing programmatic initiatives. Communicative. Ability to confidently communicate across lines of differences. Clearly and effectively present to internal colleagues, community members and stakeholders. Demonstrate experience working effectively within collaborative and/or movement structures. Innovative and Strategic. Ability to be a strategic, forward thinker who actively seeks opportunities, identifies problems, and presents resources. Schedule tasks and delegate assignments, track the progress and performance of the project along with the efficiency of team members. Collaborative. Demonstrated ability to work with internal departments as well as external organizations, stakeholders, and communities to execute specific initiatives to advance the Mississippi State Office\'s goals. Mission, Vision & Culture Alignment. Demonstrates an awareness for SPLC\'s mission and vision; and a commitment to ideals of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and fostering an anti-racist work culture and to anti-racist principles and learning. What You\'ll Do Support the development of projects and initiatives of the Mississippi State Office overall strategy and approach in partnership with the director and community organizers. Develop and nurture relationships with colleagues, community-based organizations, system leaders, and other local community stakeholders to inform and advance the Mississippi State Office goals and initiatives. Support the design and execution of specific programmatic initiatives that advance the Mississippi State Office strategy such as community convenings, training, and advocacy projects. Minimum Qualifications We are committed to equitable hiring practices; therefore, you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.
  • A minimum of 3 years of significant community organizing and/or project management experience; and
  • High school diploma or GED.
Compensation & Benefits This is a non-exempt role, and the minimum starting salary is $62,332.00 ($29.97 per hour) annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Click here to view the benefits available to SPLC staff. Where and How You\'ll Work This role the following work designations options:
  • Local Remote: Will work remotely but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates.
  • Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.
Other Special Considerations This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions. This position is represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild. This position will require at least 25% travel.
