The key responsibilities of the construction project manager are:

  • Project Planning: Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive project plans. Ensure that project objectives, scope, budget, and time line are clearly defined and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective practices and adherence to financial guidelines. Regularly monitor project expenses and make necessary adjustments to stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate and manage resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure optimal productivity and project progress.
  • Contractor and Subcontractor Management: Identify and on board qualified contractors and subcontractors to execute specific project tasks. Regularly assess performance and compliance with project requirements.
  • Schedule and Time line Management: Create and maintain detailed project schedules, outlining all project phases, milestones, and deadlines. Proactively identify potential delays and develop strategies to keep the project on track.
  • Quality Control: Uphold the highest standards of quality in all construction activities. Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with industry regulations, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges during the project life cycle and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication among project stakeholders, ensuring everyone is well-informed of project status, changes, and updates.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Prioritise and enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all workers and visitors.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during the project, finding practical and innovative solutions.

The successful construction project manager candidate will meet the following requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in general contracting project management, preferably in Detroit or a similar urban setting.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • A valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation.
