Job Description


We are seeking a talented full-time programmer who will be a fit with our dynamic team of designers and developers in a collaborative, goal-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and software building and will be able to demonstrate some experience in creating secure, efficient, high-quality code. We work with small to medium-sized businesses who need a unique software solution to streamline their business operations. When off-the-shelf solutions don\xe2\x80\x99t match our clients\xe2\x80\x99 needs, we write custom web applications to fit their business. No calls, please. We will contact candidates selected for interview. Please note that we are only considering applicants who are available for full-time employment. We are unable to support a 1099 contract arrangement at this time. Our technology stack & toolset

  • Laravel framework with PHP for our back-end work.
  • Livewire with Javascript for our front-end work.
  • Macbook Pros running our projects with Docker for Mac.
  • GitLab with Git and Git flow for our version and repository control solutions.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment using Docker with GitLab CI to deploy our code to Google\xe2\x80\x99s Cloud Platform. Using this setup, we achieve quick deployments with no server downtime. Google also allows us to host our sites with auto-scaling, database snapshotting, and multi-region redundancy.
  • PHPStorm is our editor of choice, but developers choose whatever editor they prefer.
Responsibilities
  • Build back-end features for current and new web projects.
  • When presented with a new feature, define/understand the problem to be solved and the expected outcome.
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and usability to complex software requirements.
  • Conduct testing to validate proper functioning and eliminate bugs.
  • Present and defend coding decisions to peers and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to development guidelines, best practices and standards.
Requirements
  • At least one year professional experience as a back-end or full stack web programmer, with proficiency in PHP7 and understanding of PHP best practices (PSR-2 and PSR-4).
  • Working knowledgeof web applications using Laravel.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience using version control with Git.
  • Ability to successfully identify & eliminate bugs that come up during development.
  • Knowledge with SQL relational databases, MySQL preferred.
  • Understanding of package managers such as Composer and NPM.
  • Available for a daily 9 AM EST morning stand-up call, and be available during set hours close to EST. We are a geographically distributed team, but we communicate daily about our projects and use the Scrum implementation of Agile.
Pluses
  • BSc/BA in computer science, software engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Experience with Alpine.js, Livewire, or Vue.js.
  • Experience working on an Agile/Scrum development team.
  • An understanding of current industry best practices and coding standards, including SOLID principles, RESTful routing, and understanding design patterns.
