Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Program Manager I. Under supervision of Faculty Development Core Leadership, the Coordinator/Manager will serve as administrative support for the UAB/TU FIRST Faculty Development Core and will assist with faculty development activities for the Benjamin-Carver Scientist Program in collaboration with colleagues from Tuskegee University. The Coordinator/Manager will manage programmatic activities, provide logistical support, and assist with planning and implementation, including B-C Scientist tracking and reporting. The Coordinator/Manager will help manage the B-C FIRST Research Collaboratory and collaborate the UAB/TU FIRST Office of Integrated Research Support.
Key Duties, Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administratively managing a University department under the general direction of a functional Program Director or under the auspices of a Program Advising Committee and according to an established program plan
  • May participate in the development of program objectives and is responsible for achieving objectives within defined parameters set by University and/or department policies and procedures or technical principles
  • May require fiscal management of grants and other funds
  • May manage multiple programs
  • Requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives established in the program plan
  • May supervise staff as needed
  • Serve as administrative support for the UAB/TU FIRST Faculty Development Core
  • Assist with faculty development activities for the Benjamin-Carver Scientist Program in collaboration with colleagues from Tuskegee University
  • Manage programmatic activities, provide logistical support, and assist with planning and implementation, including B-C Scientist tracking and reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Annual Salary Range \xe2\x80\x93 $41,175 - $66,915


Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field
  • Two (2) years of related experience required
  • Work experience may not substitute for education requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with university systems and processes, e.g., IRB, OSP, Contracts Grants
  • Experience with grant proposal and manuscript development, especially NIH grants
  • Familiarity with starting up research studies
  • Experience with professional collaborative software/platforms, such as Slack, MS Teams, etc.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced collaborative team setting
  • Excellent MS Office skills
