Overview

Title: Program Director, MS447

Reports To: Vice President, Bronx Afterschool Programs

Location: 125 East 181st Street, Bronx, New York 10453

Hours: 35 hours, Exempt

Job Summary: The Program Director will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the school year afterschool program and the summer learning program. He or she will be the liaison to school staff and responsible for required documentation reports. This is a year-round position and will require availability for weekend training requirements.

Major Duties:

  • Provide overall leadership for the after-school/summer program and the development of school and Good Shepherd linkages within the school day.
  • Oversee the coordination of SONYC enrichment activities and curricula.
  • Oversee the coordination of Compass Explore Arts program (music, dance, theatre)
  • Direct responsibility for program and staff scheduling.
  • Supervise after-school group leaders, program aides, consultants, administrative support and volunteers.
  • Implement and develop after school curriculum.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and cleanliness of the site.
  • Complete required narrative and statistical reports.
  • Liaise with the principal and designated school staff to coordinate the activities of the program with ongoing education programs.
  • Participate in appropriate school based teams or committees.
  • Act as liaison to school staff to ensure a seamless program among school providers.
  • Create linkages and feedback loops to programs within the school for student support and/or educational achievement.
  • Monitor program expenditures.
  • Assume primary responsibility for integrating parent involvement activities to families of after school participants.
  • Provide daily crisis intervention with participants regarding personal and/or in school issues that affect their behavior and attendance.
  • Ensure program\xe2\x80\x99s compliance with Department of Health and COA accreditation requirements.
  • Take on summer program assignments based on division needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors with supervisory experience preferred experience in youth development programs and supervision.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Cultural and Arts programming.
  • Must be able to engage in crisis intervention activities and demonstrate, lead and teach a range of group activities.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
