Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Afrobarometer is seeking a research analyst/research assistant to assist the project in producing analysis and publications based on Afrobarometer data. Typical tasks will include (but not be limited to): i) producing/authoring (or co-authoring) Afrobarometer Dispatches and Pan-African Profiles, ii) analysis of AB metadata and production of Afrobarometer Methods Notes; iii) participation in conferences to present AB findings; iv) production of analysis and PowerPoint slides to support AB presentations or other communications outputs; vi) production of codebooks, Summaries of Results, and other Afrobarometer outputs; vi) Other tasks as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

Interest in African politics, political analysis and political communications; familiarity with survey research methods, and analysis of public opinion data; familiarity with SPSS and with use of Excel for generating graphics; Demonstrated strong writing skills.
