This role is responsible for developing the production plan, using SAP, to satisfy customer demand with an understanding of both internal and external forecasts. The Scheduler must best utilize the plant\'s productive capacity as well as have a practical understanding of schedule adherence and required inventory levels. This role will work closely with Value stream Manager and operations to ensure a smooth and cost-efficient flow of our production operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Put Safety first at all times, never compromise on safety for the obtainment of other objectives. Responsible for health and safety of themselves and coworkers.
  • Manage all short to long term planning/scheduling activities for their assigned value streams at the site. Balance production and inventory levels with demand to support target consistent with 99% customer service levels, inventory turn goals and capacity utilization/staffing requirements. Develop planning scorecards per value stream to monitor performance and drive improvements.
  • Work closely with Program Management and Operations to maintain accurate and consistent SIOP plans using SAP
  • Work closely with assigned value stream leader to ensure a common understanding of materials flow and usage within that value stream. This includes all manufacturing related material as well as material supporting development activities. Apply Lean principles and plan to a single piece flow rhythm and kitting ideology where possible.
  • Engineering Change Management process involvement. Work closely with engineering, operations, and procurement to properly manage the introduction, scheduling and transition of material and BOM revisions. Solid understanding of SAP production planning and how engineering changes are implemented in the SAP system
  • Responsible for intercompany demand and procurement of subassemblies.
  • Actively participate on NPI process. Assist with analysis of new product introductions and business opportunities to ensure that the manufacturing supply chain can support all program requirements. Incorporate open-ended development projects into the daily and weekly plant level schedules using SAP,MS project and other tools
  • Responsible, at a tactical plant level with input from key departments and using SAP and SIOP process, to determine correct inventory levels and controls to support the operations and manufacturing supply chain. This includes implementation of lean inventory tools such as Kanban, JIT, Min-Max, Consignment, etc. at all levels assemblies and raw materials using and understanding of SAP settings.
  • Drive the integration of Lean planning for each Value Stream with SAP. Value Streams may differ with respect to the approach for scheduling. However SAP is to be used for Master Plan and tracking finished goods to shipment. Individual Value Streams will need planning support to know what planning mechanisms/tools to use to ensure the best plan and use for available capacity.
  • Participates on SAP design and testing teams for new systems; work toward eliminating the use of off-line spreadsheets and processes for scheduling and planning. Lead efforts to install standard processes for the planning process, creating and implementing and maintaining standard work in accordance with ERP methodology. Work closely with the SAP IT organization to test and provide alternative solutions to any current SAP deficiencies related to planning and material control. Assist in developing standard processes and work instructions for all planning and material control functions.
  • Participate in meetings, and keep up to date on issues related to Sales Forecast, Manufacturing, Planning, New Product introductions, Line Fill Rates, Metrics, and other related Supply Chain issues. Present summary of key information, metrics, and analysis to the Plant Leadership Team on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Experience/Education/Skills
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience -preferably in Operations Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 2-5 years SAP experience in a manufacturing environment specifically with PP and MM modules, WM is also helpful
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • 2-5 year of experience in Planning, Scheduling or Supply Chain.
  • Experience in operations, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement required.
  • Advanced ERP business process experience required. SAP experience required.
  • Able to work directly with supervisors/team leads to understand situations and plan accordingly.
  • Exceptional communication skills-for use internally and with customers and suppliers as needed. Verbal and written skills necessary.
  • Strong overall computer skills in MS Office Suite required-including Excel, Outlook, Word, Power point at a minimum.
  • Able to lead through influence and manage fulfillment requirements while managing inventory levels and turns for the site.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and oversight, results oriented
Working Conditions

Indoor production environment, duties performed indoors, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, Travel may be required

Occasionally positions self to move an item

Frequently move about the production floor and office area to attend meetings or trainings

Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time

Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc.
