Position Function :

To humanely place the birds on the hanging line in preparation for slaughtering and ensuring minimal damage is done to the bird.

Essential Duties, Functions & Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 When bird comes down the conveyor belt, grasp the legs of the bird (a leg in both hands) and place legs into shackle.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure proper placement of bird on the line; do not cross legs of the bird or hang the bird by one leg.

\xc2\xb7 Check for any DOA (Dead On Arrival) birds. Check by grabbing the bird by the leg or wing to feel for stiffness.

\xc2\xb7 Remove all DOA birds from the line and place on the floor to be taken by the floor person.

\xc2\xb7 Keep the conveyor line full at all times.

\xc2\xb7 Hang appropriate shackles assigned to your job station.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for ensuring that the bird is treated humanely at all times.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for reporting any unusual or suspicious behavior; including inhumane treatment of animals.

\xc2\xb7 Follows all work safety policies and guidelines

\xc2\xb7 Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns

\xc2\xb7 Adheres to all USDA and GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes) product standards and guidelines

\xc2\xb7 Maintains a clean and organized work area

\xc2\xb7 Will be required to rotate to various functions within the processing department

\xc2\xb7 Performs other duties as assigned

\xc2\xb7 Accountable to maintain punctual and regular attendance for scheduled work hours

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

\xc2\xb7 Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions

\xc2\xb7 Ability to meet required birds/minute.

\xc2\xb7 Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

\xc2\xb7 Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States

\xc2\xb7 Must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical

Physical Requirements :

\xc2\xb7 Standing 8 \xe2\x80\x93 10 hours per day

\xc2\xb7 Lift up-to 60 lbs

\xc2\xb7 Bending, stooping, twisting, and squatting.

\xc2\xb7 Repetitive hand intensive task, tight gripping, grasping, pinching, and pulling required.

Working Conditions:

\xc2\xb7 May work in damp and cold environment

\xc2\xb7 Seasonably hot and warm environment

\xc2\xb7 Work in Seasonal Outdoor conditions

\xc2\xb7 Work with loud and noisy machinery

\xc2\xb7 Work in dusty environment

\xc2\xb7 Work with chemical or Fumes

\xc2\xb7 Work around pungent odors

\xc2\xb7 Working with Live Animals

Minimum Qualifications

\xc2\xb7 No minimum education requirement

\xc2\xb7 No previous work experience required

\xc2\xb7 Must be at least eighteen (18) years old

\xc2\xb7 Must be eligible to work legally in the United States
