The Position Product Technical Support Manager

Job Summary

As a Technical Support Manager, for your area, your role is to:

\xe2\x88\x99 Facilitate business growth through technical training of customers, contractors and specifies

\xe2\x88\x99 Act as a technical ambassador, representing the company externally as an expert by participating in university networks, standardization committees, customer events, trade shows and supplier visits.

\xe2\x88\x99 Support technically all commercial activities pre and post sales, in particular;

\xe2\x97\x8b complaints investigation and resolution

\xe2\x97\x8b product benchmarking

\xe2\x97\x8b technical lobbying to market stakeholders (standards, academics and owners)

\xe2\x97\x8b innovation

CUSTOMER FOCUS:

\xe2\x88\x99 Voice of the customers from job site feedback, exclusive sessions and technical seminars

\xe2\x88\x99 Expand applicator network

\xe2\x88\x99 Complaints management

TECHNICAL SUPPORT:

\xe2\x88\x99 Support sales function to realize sales opportunities

\xe2\x88\x99 Specification writing and communication to customers

\xe2\x88\x99 Develop competent contractor network in your area

\xe2\x88\x99 Local ad hoc testing within a laboratory environment

\xe2\x88\x99 Products: Calcium Aluminates and other Imerys construction minerals

\xe2\x88\x99 Geographical zones: North and South America

\xe2\x88\x99 % of travel time: 40 - 50%

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Health and Safety Objectives

\xe2\x88\x99 Ensure compliance with company safety rules and contribute to preventive measures, to achieve our safety objectives

Technical Sales

\xe2\x88\x99 Work closely with the sales manager to support the customer throughout the project, including technical after sales support

\xe2\x88\x99 Participate in client discussions for technical sales on identified opportunities

\xe2\x88\x99 Resolve customers\' technical objections at any stage during the project

\xe2\x88\x99 Promote sales through specification selling together with the Sales Manager

\xe2\x88\x99 Identify technical opportunities with existing products to optimize value proposition

\xe2\x88\x99 Identify the correct opportunities for organic growth through technical discussions, act as project manager for large technical development projects as required, in collaboration with the S&T team

\xe2\x88\x99 Upon request by marketing, perform benchmarking analysis of Imerys and competitors\xe2\x80\x99 products, alternative technologies and new commercial products from customers, to support structuring of product offering and positioning, as well as pricing activities.

Customer innovation

\xe2\x88\x99 Identify and report on unmet technical needs of customers and potential new products/solutions \xe2\x88\x99 Translate performance requirements into product specification

\xe2\x88\x99 Act as link between customers and S&T/Operations on new product development

\xe2\x88\x99 Assist S&T with new product trials

\xe2\x88\x99 Support customer site trials

\xe2\x88\x99 Manage customer qualification process for new products

Customer quality issues

\xe2\x88\x99 Assist the quality department when responding to customers on quality issues

\xe2\x88\x99 Liaise with operations/quality managers on solution identification and implementation

\xe2\x88\x99Acting as expert internally and externally

\xe2\x88\x99 Manage technical training of sales/ marketing personnel on area/s of expertise

\xe2\x88\x99 Act as technical ambassador for areas of expertise in external communication (customer technical training, participation in external knowledge sharing, fairs & conferences, standardization committee, etc.) \xe2\x88\x99 Build a network among the customers\xe2\x80\x99 and industries technical community

Education/Experience Requirements:

\xe2\x88\x99 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering plus 5 years experience or Material Sciences or related field equivalent experience (10 years)

\xe2\x88\x99 Home based in US, preferably SE US

\xe2\x88\x99 Ability to use common IT tools (Excel, Word, Web tools)

\xe2\x88\x99 Salesforce would be an advantage

\xe2\x88\x99 Experience in Hydraulic binders, Building chemistry applications & drymix mortars formulations a plus

\xe2\x88\x99 Formulation know how and additives knowledge is a plus

\xe2\x88\x99 Cement, mortar technical background is a plus
