RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinating Newspath\'s response to breaking news and facilitating newsgathering projects for multiple outlets.
  • Responding to video and editorial requests from CBS News broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates, and clients, and producing live shots.
  • Candidates must be familiar with all major social media platforms and vehicles for engaging audiences on a digital level.
  • This includes - but is not limited to - Facebook, Facebook Live, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube. Part of this position\xe2\x80\x99s editorial responsibilities is to be able to spot viral and pre-trending content and turn it around for our brand. Candidates must be well-versed in the feel and best practices for social-friendly videos (including rights & clearances).
  • This position requires weekend and evening hours and also may include overnight when news warrants.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 5 years producing experience in a professional newsroom.
  • Non-linear editing experience required. Proficiency with Avid preferred.
  • Must be an excellent writer with good oral communication skills. Including experience in quickly reviewing and revising scripts/rundowns.
  • Original scripting experience a must.
  • Must have solid news judgment and experience with breaking news and live shots.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and be available to work various schedules.
  • Supervisory experience is preferable with good leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.
  • Thrives in high-pressure and time-critical situations. Ability to multi-task is essential.
  • Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.
  • Passion for news, journalism, and social media.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000.00 - 85,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
