Position Summary:

The Produce Stocker at The Green Grocer plays a crucial role in maintaining the visual appeal and freshness of our produce department. This individual is responsible for receiving, organizing, stocking, and rotating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, ensuring optimal product quality and availability for our customers. A successful Produce Stocker is detail-oriented, physically able to handle diverse tasks, and committed to upholding the high standards of The Green Grocer.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and unload produce deliveries, verifying accuracy of orders against invoices. Inspect produce for quality, freshness, and damage upon arrival and throughout the day. Properly store and organize produce in coolers and on display shelves according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles. Stock and replenish produce displays in an appealing and organized manner, ensuring shelves are full and well-maintained. Rotate produce regularly to minimize spoilage and ensure freshness. Cull and trim produce as needed to maintain quality and appearance. Assist customers with questions about produce, offering recommendations and locating specific items. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the produce department, including displays, storage areas, and equipment. Monitor and communicate inventory levels, informing management of potential shortages or overages. Operate produce equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., scales, pallet jacks if applicable). Assist with other duties as assigned by the Produce Manager or Store Manager.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a grocery, retail, or produce environment preferred but not required. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in varied temperatures, including refrigerated environments. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to product quality. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
