General Summary

The Process Improvement Specialist improves both team efficiency and process efficiency by giving support operationally to the assigned site. This position reports to the assigned site Production Leadership and has a functional line to Regional Process Improvement Management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Helps develop and implement training programs (12-week projects) and provide solutions for organizational training in Lean, Six Sigma, and problem solving tools, principles, and methodology including A3s and C4s.
  • Identifies and supports organizational goals and activities (5S, Kata, Kaizen) specifically related to process improvement initiatives and other project activity.
  • Participates in and lead continuous improvement tasks or projects.
  • Measures and communicates process improvement progress status within the organization.
  • Works with global peers and others in process improvement to align local efforts and share best practices.
  • Provides hands-on support at the manufacturing level for continuous improvement of manufacturing operations and processes through problem solving sessions, kaizen events, etc.
  • Provides support to organizational change management initiatives.
  • Implements and improves assigned components of the organizational communication plan.
  • Handles details of a confidential nature with discretion and technical skill.
  • Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, displaying trust and rapport building skills.
  • Ability to effectively and succinctly communicate in oral and written form to all levels (Operator to Executive) of the organization, as well as outside contractors.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the manufacturing process and good business acumen.
  • Skilled in facilitation and coaching methods to achieve results through others.
  • Time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines. Ability to multi-task and organize work, looking for ways to become more efficient in completing tasks.
  • Possess a strong level of project management skills.
  • High adaptability, with the ability to work independently and act as a self-starter.
  • Ability to explain, build and motivate change across the organization.
  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs as well as statistical tools and software. SAP experience is a plus.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor of Science in a business or scientific field of study with 3-5 years of related administrative and related experience in a Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable and in an office setting. Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate with occasional exposure to cold temperatures. Regular entry into the production facility requires personal protective equipment to be worn at all times. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves. International travel bi-annually may be required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
