Associate Teacher

Position Summary

La Escuelita Preschool at the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan is searching for a qualified GSRP Associate Teacher for our bilingual preschool classroom. The Associate Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the curriculum, with preparing the classroom environment and materials in each area, capturing students' assessment data by helping with observation notes. Works well with teachers and other staff to promote a positive culture.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher in creating and establishing a safe environment for children to learn and play. Supervise the children at all times, name to face count and active supervision through GRSP guidelines Assist in observation documentation from students for each checkpoint (Fall, Winter, Spring) Team player who is willing to work with other teachers to impact the students for success. Ability to follow regulations according to licensing and our childcare standards. Cultural competency and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Attend mandatory training and meetings as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to pass a criminal background check. Culturally competent with a strong ability to work in diverse environments. Reliable, team-oriented, and able to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English and Spanish. Walking, standing, bending, and carrying small and light objects. Completes 30 hours of professional development during the school year and participates in other staff development and training.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures through licensing and GSRP standards. Prior work experience working with vulnerable children and families. Knowledge of computer web-based programs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for weekly documentation. Associate's degree in early childhood or child development preferred or a valid center based CDA credential.

This is a full-time, onsite position with a Monday to Friday schedule. The

Associate Teacher

may be required to attend evening and weekend events to support the HCWM team and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour
