We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Support Specialist to join our team in a private school setting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment for children ages 3 years old through Kindergarten, particularly those requiring additional support including but not limited to speech, emotional and behavioral. This position is perfect for individuals with a background in childhood development, special education, behavioral support or related fields who are passionate about educating and nurturing young minds. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year experience as an assistant, have a background/knowledge in Montessori, be able to think quickly on their feet, multi-task and open to flexible thinking.
Responsibilities
Assist teachers in managing a Primary Montessori classroom and maintaining an organized learning environment.
Provide support to students with diverse needs, including those with special education, behavioral, emotional and speech requirements.
Implement early intervention strategies to promote academic and social development among students.
Collaborate with educators to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
Facilitate standardized testing and ensure that all accommodations are met for students requiring additional assistance.
Engage with students in toddler care settings, providing nurturing support and guidance.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding academic performance and behavioral issues.
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their growth and development both academically and socially.
Requirements
Experience working with students in a classroom or educational setting is preferred.
Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices in early education and Montessori is essential.
Familiarity with classroom management techniques to create an effective learning environment.
Background in special education, behavioral support or early intervention strategies is highly desirable.
Ability to educate and engage students effectively, adapting methods to meet individual needs.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders effectively.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children are critical attributes for success in this role.
Familiar with Montessori practices and principles is helpful.

Pay: $22.27 - $26.64 per hour
